Maybe in a new page.

No scouting from me but I do have an opinion on all the QB talk. Basically I want to go with Lock. I don't want any of the has been heap, nor Stafford, Dalton, Trubisky and definitely not any of the super costly like Watson, Prescott, etc. IMO drew deserves a chance in hopefully will be a closer to normal year. But as usual, I'll try to support whoever we go with... some of the shine has gone off football for me after 2020.
DeleteLooks like we made an offer on Stafford. May do the same for Watson but I don't think Watson wants to come here. I think its Lock with a strong Vet to push him.
ReplyDeleteAs for scouting nothing to deep yet. The senior bowl was over the weekend, some interesting prospects showing from that.
ReplyDeleteThanks 1st.
ReplyDeleteI agree with stick with Lock. Although I have always liked Trubisky.
Didn't know we were making a run at some of them.
ReplyDeleteI would trade the farm for Watson. If you want to compete with the Chiefs, you better have a top 5 QB to build around. Right now, we are not even competitive with KC.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Watson may not want to come to Denver and have read some articles that say that. Its too bad considering all of the young offensive weapons we have to develop.
More than likely we will go with Lock. He will need to show major improvement in his 3rd year. I believe he has started 18 games. It will probably help immensely if this year we have OTAs, longer training camp and preseason games.
I’m willing to give Lock a chance with a normal spring OTAs and camp. BUT! I’d still like to see us land, either by trade or by draft, a franchise QB. OBF is absolutely correct about being able to compete with KC. Unless Lock has an outstanding year, we need a much better QB for the future.
ReplyDeleteI'm under the impression lots of people think Watson is beyond being a fuckup at Denver just like all the other saviors we chased. I'm sick of chasing waterfalls. LOL. You can't spend it all on a QB. Get a fucking defense that can stop Mahomes. Elway needed TD.Even Manning wouldn't have won us a SB if not for Von, Malik and the no fly zone.
ReplyDeleteDigger the Broncos have only been scoring 17 pts per game or less. That will never beat the KC.
ReplyDeleteElway bought in a bunch of clowns at QB after Manning. Sanchez, Lynch, Keenum, Flacco. None of these clowns are even close to Watson. I guarantee a healthy Watson would be a top tier QB for the next 10 years.
I think if you are adopting a primary policy of building a defense to stop Mahomes, you will be sucking Chief farts for 10 to 15 more years.
You need a top QB to be competitive with KC, along with a supporting offensive cast, a strong defense, a top coaching staff and a real owner.
Watson, by himself, will not be the savior, but he could/would be the main ingredient.
If Watson comes to Denver, I hope that he does so with the intent of bringing some sense of stability and loyalty, i.e., as in not demanding to be traded again the minute his ego gets a little bruised.
DeleteThanks OBF. Very rational, intelligent response.
ReplyDeleteI think you're right.
How about that Tom Brady?
ReplyDeleteIn the past I knew Brady was one of the best QBs ever, but I hesitated to call him the GOAT, because of the system and Belechik. I changed my opinion after the SB comeback win by Brady over Atlanta. I started calling him the GOAT. This SB win with a new team only makes me feel that way more strongly.
ReplyDeleteI have been saying that Mahomes is the best young QB that I have ever seen and that he might become the GOAT. I still say that he is the best young QB that I have ever seen, but only time will tell on the GOAT part.
Agreed, there isn't any doubt anymore, Brady is the GOAT. Mahomes is probably the only current QB that may get close to that (he could play in every superbowl for the next decade).
ReplyDeleteNo doubt. All you can do is bring up Bilacheat, but in reality it makes Brady look better. QBs like a fully inflated football.
ReplyDeleteWhat would you do with Von? Really hesitant to just cut him. I think I’d see what I could get with a trade and if is wasn’t compelling, I’d keep him.
ReplyDeleteTrade him for Watson.

ReplyDeleteI’m seeing more mock drafts that have us talking Sartain with our first draft pick. That would be great, as long as we have a plan for QB. If we can’t get one of the top two or three QBs, I’d say we shouldn’t be picking one. Not sold on Justin Fields. For whatever reason, Ohio state just doesn’t produce elite NFL QBs.
ReplyDeleteSustain is a CB right? I'm good with that.
ReplyDeleteIF Digger is good with it, then count me in.
ReplyDeletePer Mike Klis, Broncos will not be awarded any compensatory picks.
ReplyDeleteSo anybody got a site that shows the actual moves and trades instead of all the possible ones?
ReplyDeleteThis one works fairly well:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.spotrac.com/nfl/transactions/denver-broncos/
Signing Harris looks like a good start.
ReplyDeleteDigger I use: https://www.nbcsports.com/edge/football/nfl/player-news
ReplyDeleteGot a corner as well. Darby is a solid get when health.
There was talk we were interested in LB Floyd which may signal the end of Von in Denver :(
And the Vonster is back!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Getting caught up. Slowly. Not sure I'll remember it all.
ReplyDeletePhillip Lindsay GONE! Fangio never did like the kid but I did... I'm thinking about firing Fangio! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLooks like Lindsay was pissed we are bringing in Boone, but he plays ST and Lindsay doesn't.
DeleteIf that was what ticked Lindsay off, it does seem he didn't think that through very well. Doesn't seem a special teamer who might get a handful of carries a year would be worth throwing a hissy fit over. But I do agree that Fangio didn't seem to like him, so its hard to find fault with Lindsay for hitting the road.
DeleteKyle Fuller is available. We need him.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a huge pickup.
DeleteSigned Simmons for 4 years. Good deal.
ReplyDeleteIt feels like Payton is having a pretty decent spring, so far. There hasn't been a headscratchin move yet. Unless you consider Lock is still the starting QB to be a headscratcher.
ReplyDeleteWell we're still listed as one of the six teams interested in Watson and he has been on record to saying he prefers us or 49ers.
ReplyDeleteGot him. Harris Chubb, Miller, Simmons, Darby and now Fuller. Looking good.
ReplyDeleteFrickin’ awesome!
ReplyDeleteOur starting 11 on D are looking good. Would like an ILB and another safety to settle it all off.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we can still get Jackson back. I think we offered him to come back for less money earlier.
ReplyDeleteTodd Davis? Haha.
ReplyDeleteWe did get Jackson back.
ReplyDeleteI'm really happy we got Jackson back. Our secondary on paper looks good.
ReplyDeleteStill need that LB.
ReplyDeleteShould be able to get a great one with the 9 pick. We're set up pretty well to do about what ever we want to do with that pick.
ReplyDeleteA lot of moving in the draft today. Pretty much guarantee QBs go top 3 picks.
ReplyDeleteJust curious, who on here would still like us to get Watson if possible?
ReplyDeleteNot right now. Would have to see how his legal issues play out. Unless, you can get him on the really cheap right now, which is not likely.
Deletenot that I wouldn't mind having him, but Id spend my money somewhere else this year. LIKE ILB!
ReplyDeleteThere should be one at #9.
ReplyDeleteSo if Mac Jones or Fields fell to 9 would you take one of them or go with best player available, or go for biggest need?
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, Fields scares me. Mainly because OSU QBs have a history of failing badly in the NFL.
I think I'd go best player available.
I personally don't want either of them. Lance would be okay competition for Lock though, IMO.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking we are still interested in Watson though and won't jump through any hoops for drafting a QB.
A new QB really doesn't help us much. I think Lawrence is in a class of his own and all the others are a step down. I'd rather round with Lock and draft defense help in the top 10 than getting a QB.
ReplyDeleteI would take Fields in a heartbeat at 9, but I highly doubt that he will still be available.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Fields wasn't at OSU long enough to be contaminated by the NFL Pox on OSU QBs. Obviously it we take him that’s what I’ll be rooting for!
ReplyDeleteI hear we offered a deal to Miami for #6.
ReplyDeleteI like today's rumor that we are going to try to trade for Jordan Love of the Packers.
ReplyDeleteI have trouble seeing Bridgewater as the answer to any Bronco related QB question. I like him as a backup maybe, but I sure hope we can come up with a better option in the draft.
ReplyDeleteThe one year deal and paying peanuts screams he has been bought in to teach a rook, whether that is Lock or Fields or Lance is to be seen.
ReplyDeleteHappy with the pick, but a bit surprised!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised too.
ReplyDeleteI though we addressed CB in FA.
It's who I wanted us to get a month ago. Haha.
ReplyDeleteOpinions on what we need on the OL.
ReplyDeleteAre we good on the outside?
ReplyDeleteWhich outside, WR, Corner, Edge or Tackle?
DeleteTackle
DeleteI thought we were going corner. I liked Horn and Farley more, Horn went to Panthers though. Surtain will be a fine pick. Fuller is on a one year deal so probably going to need a corner long term anyway.
ReplyDeleteDon't think we need much on OL. Depends if you think RT is sorted with James or we need to add one.
Broncos also were on Rodgers short list for new spots. Now that would be a huge move.
Think we ok at Tackle with James coming back, but we could add depth behind him.
ReplyDeleteGot a RB, Guard/Center and LB today. Really happy with all three of those picks.
ReplyDeleteI’m happy with the picks, but what a different draft strategy! Looks like they had some people they had targeted and knew where to move so they could get them. Just hope it’s the right people, because they passed on a lot of good players to get them.
ReplyDeleteNot too sure about the Caden Sterns pick. I live in Texas and while I don’t follow the Longhorns, I hear a lot about them. To say he wasn’t one of the fan favorites is an understatement. The guy was always hurt and had way too many missed tackles. Badly missed tackles. Like he was afraid to take a hit missed tackles.
ReplyDeleteI was so disappointed when Fields dropped to 9th and we did not take him. We did not have to give up all kinds of draft capitol to get him, we just needed to pick him.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it was because of Rodgers, but we will have to give up 3 1st Round picks for Rodgers and maybe a 2nd and 3rd.
The other disappointing think that I saw is that Fangio commented that Lock and Bridgewater would split the reps 50 50. I'm not a Bridgewater fan as a potential starter over Lock without a rookie QB being groomed. I am ok with giving Lock another year, but then give him the god damn reps. They did the same thing to Simien and then wondered why he did not approve. I HATE the idea of Bridgewater starting with no other plan in place.

ReplyDeleteSo here is my question, would you rather:
ReplyDeleteA) Use the 9th pick in 2021 for Fields
B) Hope that you can trade for Rodgers, knowing that you will need to probably give up 3 1st round choices, a 2nd and a 3rd, and or some current players. Don't forget the Manning started to break down physically at age 38, and Rodgers is currently 37.
C) Do neither.

ReplyDeleteI wasn't a huge fan of Fields coming out, it seemed to take him an age to release the ball when in the pocket. I thought it was due to his throwing motion being a bit loose and taking awhile to windup.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy with the combination at QB and agreed on the point of the 50/50 split. I would hope it would quickly change through training camp as a winner starts to put a foot forward.
I'd be over the moon with a Rodgers pick (don't forget Brady won a superbowl at 42 :P ), but we are in play for both him and Watson. Either is a huge upgrade.
I liked our approach to load up on young talent now knowing a big trade may be coming for either of these guys around June. If not we have a young roster with competition at QB now.
So much for being comfortable with our RT position. Now its a sea of nothing.
ReplyDeleteDang it.
ReplyDeleteWhen will we draft OL? Pisses me off. A QB is only as good as his OL.
ReplyDeleteAs we saw in the last Super Bowl when Mahommes had a makeshift Offensive line and actually looked mortal.
DeletePrognosticators have us giving up a lot for Rodgers.
ReplyDeleteI'm all for it!
DeleteDefinitely favourites for Rodgers, would be crazy to pull it off.
ReplyDeleteAnd Bobbie Massey is the answer at right tackle. Probably better than James.
ReplyDeleteProbably. Happy.
DeleteFinally a better answer at RT than James.
DeleteI was a huge fan of the Jamescsigning when it happened though.
Did anybody else see the Manning internship video?
ReplyDeleteYes it was funny, Manning being Manning.
ReplyDeleteIt’s good to have football back.
ReplyDeleteYes it is! it looks like we'll at least have a defense to root for.
ReplyDeleteAnother 1.5 hours and it's game on! Can't say I'm as excited this year as I have been in the past 38 seasons, but it's my team and I am a Bronco fan for life! Let's have a great year and get back to being respected.
ReplyDeleteI’ll second that!
ReplyDeleteLooks much better chances to be in games this year instead of the game being over after the first quarter. So far so good! Jeudy getting hurt won’t help.
ReplyDeleteGreat start to the year being 2-0, got Jets next week. Nice easy start to the season.
ReplyDeleteThe easy schedule start is a real boost for our Broncos. Unfortunately we still are dogged by major injuries and our traditional nonexistent special teams plays. If not for our kickers, we'd be better off to disband special teams and send out the cheerleaders on kick returns.
Delete3-0 Baby! The real season starts next week though. We’re done with patsies now. Hope we have enough healthy bodies to field a competitive team next week.
ReplyDeleteGreat start but we are banged up and I am worried if the team is that good. Our 3rd down conversion rate hasn't been great and we haven't been destroying these lower tier teams. Hopefully it isn't a bad couple of months as I am imagining.
ReplyDelete
