Day two, lets get after it.
ReplyDeleteWoody said we are targeting McCoy, Risner and Greedy.
#33 CB Murphy to Cards
ReplyDeleteReady, sorta, my feed is dragging so I'll probably be behind all night. Murphy just picked
ReplyDeletestrap your feed bag to your face and stay current.
DeleteOBF,
ReplyDeletemy comment about the fifth year option realistically doesn’t save you any money. Isn’t the fifth year option close to what the franchise tag is? Something like the avg of the top 5 contracts at the position? If that is the case, then you stand a better chance at signing him at a lower cost on a new deal because you can give a signing bonus to keep that fifth year cap hit lower. Plus with a player being a second round pick, you are paying less across the first four years.
I hope we are targeting McCoy. That is my pick if Im Elway.
ReplyDeleteColts take Rock Ya Sin. Step brother to He Hate Me
ReplyDelete#34 Rock Ya-Sin to Colts.
ReplyDeleteRun on corners now.
Taylor to Jags.
ReplyDeleteI love how much faster the second and third rounds go
ReplyDeleteSame
DeleteThey take the full damn 15 minutes in the first round and then they take another five minutes to announce it while Goodell walks out to the damn podium
Delete4 hours for 32 picks....
DeleteDeebo to 49ers. Good pick by them, I've heard a lot of good things about Deebo.
ReplyDeleteOk, SF just picked about a minute ago, how current am I
ReplyDeleteCurrent. Panthers just traded up for the next pick.
DeleteThanks, I'm there maybe a few seconds behind
DeletePanthers take T little.
ReplyDeleteBills just traded up.
Evidently a lot of talent gaps with all the trade downs
ReplyDeleteHarris traded
ReplyDeleteCHJ traded?
DeleteDid I read that right on the news feed?
DeleteBrad, that's what I caught on the news feed, went by too quick to be sure
DeleteHasn't been traded yet.
DeleteSaid he has been shopped and a trade could happen.
DeleteBig run on offensive lineman lately
ReplyDeleteFord T to Bills. OL and CB going quick.
ReplyDeleteScared the shit out of me
ReplyDeleteCB Bunting to Tampa.
ReplyDeleteI think if lock is still on the board when the dolphins draft they will take him. I certainly would overtrading for Rosen
ReplyDeleteMullen CB to Oakland. Lots of corners.
ReplyDeleteGreedy still available. We on the clock.
A lot of good options here for us.
ReplyDeleteBig Al!
ReplyDeleteGot Risner.
And then traded for 42!
Back to back picks, Elway be crazy!
DeleteFind out soon... QB?
DeleteAnd then Lock!
ReplyDeleteGave up a 4th and a 6th to get 10 spots.
ReplyDeleteA 4th and a 6th?
ReplyDeletegot Lo
ReplyDeleteLock
ReplyDeleteMan get Fant, Risner and then Lock in the 2nd. Loving the draft so far.
ReplyDeleteGot two guys I thought we would get.
DeleteOkay, I love it!
ReplyDelete4th is the one we got from Houston for DT.
DeleteLock earl I didn't like but in the 2nd, that works. Flacco and Scangrello can mentor/groom him... hopefully he isn't OsII
Deleteearly not earl
DeleteTotally agree. In the 2nd is a perfect spot to groom him.
DeleteTavai LB to Lions.
ReplyDeleteGould, you think Risner goes as C or do we still go after one?
DeleteHe will be RG, Connor is center. We could still get a center since Leary will be gone next year, so Connor could move back to guard. But center isn't high on the list anymore.
DeleteC Jenkins to Packers.
ReplyDeletePats trade up.
DeleteSee my Risner Q above
DeleteWe still need ILB and CB
ReplyDeleteCB Williams to Pats.
ReplyDeleteAnd yep, ILB, CB and WR deep threat. Then maybe depth on the DL/NT.
So we have 3rd (71), two 5s and a 7th left.
DeleteGreedy to Browns.
ReplyDeleteGreedy gone, I liked him
ReplyDeleteDK to hawks maybe?
ReplyDeleteNope safety, Blair.
DeleteI've read this draft is supposed to be deep and the way teams are trading down for extra picks says there's talent in the lower rounds
ReplyDeleteYep, it is really deep on defense.
DeleteCould be a strategy to gain low rd gems before they go as UDFAs
DeleteSo fins move down. Which means no Rosen.
ReplyDeleteSaints pick Erik McCoy.
I'd love if we doubled down, picked up some 6/7ths and grabbed Rypien and jettisoned Grayson and Hogan... Flacco, Lock and Rypien in the Bronco QB room... I like it
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind doubling up on QBs. But I think they really like Hogan.
DeleteBanogu to Colts
ReplyDeleteIrv Smith to Vikes is odd with kyle rudolph there. Maybe they trade Kyle.
ReplyDeleteStill hard to believe we got Lock at 42... just shows all that talk at #10 was way off base.
ReplyDeleteThere was talk we wanted to trade up to get him too.
DeleteIt was a good year for us for him to drop since almost all teams have their QB after 5 went last year.
There aren’t a lot of teams who need QB’s as of right now. And I don’t think many thought there were that many worth taking that high. I am glad we didn’t take him at 10 and elated we got him at 42 and still have our third round pick. Nice moves, but I still would have liked to have McCoy. I think we need to address that spot. Not sure Risner is moving to Center after being a tackle.
DeleteWe are getting great value with our picks, I got us at A-/B+ maybe better depending on how we finish.
DeleteYep really happy with what we did. Risner will be RG. Connor is center.
DeleteDolphins trading out I think means they were hoping Lock was still there. After we took him, they backed out and went for stockpiling some picks. Maybe they will use some to grab Rosen. Original signs pointed to a third round pick. Then it increased as teams became a little interested. But now that everyone drafted a QB except Miami, they have no leverage. And Miami may just sit and wait to see if they cut him or will ship him off for a lower round conditional pick next year or something. Or they say f it and wait until next year’s draft. Dolphins fans around here say they are tanking for Tua.
ReplyDeleteDolphins now have additional 2nd-, 4th-, 6th- and 7th-round picks in the 2020 Draft.
DeleteThey gearing up for Tua next year. If they don't get 1st they will be able to trade up for it.
Also probably get a 3rd as a comp pick for James.
DeleteAJ Brown to Titans.
ReplyDeleteTE Sample to Bengals.
ReplyDeleteMiles Sanders to Eagles.
ReplyDeleteCB Johnson to Texans.
ReplyDeleteTackle Scharping to Texans.
ReplyDeleteRams trade out again with Chiefs.
ReplyDeleteWR Hardman to Chiefs, that is the Hill replacement.
DeleteWR Whiteside to Eagles.
ReplyDeleteDallas will take DK lol.
DT Hill to Cowboys.
ReplyDeleteOoohh WR Campbell to the Colts. I like that one.
ReplyDeleteS Adderley to Chargers.
ReplyDeleteSo what we feeling at 71? Long, Love and Layne still available.
ReplyDeleteOr ILB, Pratt is there but not a huge fan.
If they take WR Hall I will be very happy.
Just checking our roster and we have only Brendel listed at C with Falah as G/C... bet we take one (C) somewhere
ReplyDeletewe desperately need one
DeleteSam Jones is a center.
DeleteRosen to the Dolphins
ReplyDeleteSeems to have happened.
DeleteYep, IMO, MIA got a good deal. Cards OL sucked so bad last year Rosen had no chance.
DeleteFins line is no better.
DeleteCards did good to unload Rosen for a second rounder
DeleteWith no leverage, yeah they did a good job.
DeleteS Rapp to Rams.
ReplyDeleteWR Andy Isabella to Cards. Like that pick.
ReplyDeleteConnor McGovern 2.0 is still on the board as well.
ReplyDeleteS Thornhill to Chiefs.
ReplyDeleteSo we have zero 4th and 6th rd picks but have 2 in the 5th and 1 in the 7th... so 4 picks left.
ReplyDeleteCorrect.
Deletepicks 71,148,156,237
DeleteMetcalf finally went
ReplyDeletePats trade to hawks for DK!
ReplyDeleteI really like that pick for Hawks.
DeleteDE Allen to Cards
ReplyDeleteSteelers take WR Johnson.
ReplyDelete49ers take WR Hurd.
ReplyDeleteHmm I'm not liking what is available at the moment. Lots of CBs or WR Hall.
ReplyDeleteI think we trade down 10 maybe and pick up a 4th.
DE Polite to Pack.
ReplyDeleteWe on the clock.
ReplyDeleteJags take Josh Oliver TE. Like that pick for them.
ReplyDeleteRams traded ahead of us.
ReplyDeleteHenderson to Rams. I really liked Henderson in this class. He was my favorite RB.
DeleteMecklenburg! Got our DT.
ReplyDeleteDre'mont Jones
DeleteCould be our interior pass rusher. Probably means Walker is done.
DeleteA DT, our D is gonna be strong...
ReplyDeletelove the pick being an OSU guy
ReplyDeletePratt to Bengals.
ReplyDeleteJones (6’3/281) made 37 starts across three seasons in Columbus, earning first-team All-B1G in 2018 and graduating with 22 career TFLs and ten sacks. Also a plus run stopper, Jones was PFF College’s No. 1-graded defensive tackle in the Big Ten last season, leading the conference in QB pressures (52) by an interior lineman. (The next-closest DT had 29.) Jones is light in the pants for a three-down NFL player, however, and disappointingly tested as a 25th-percentile athlete in Indy. Ultimately, Jones best projects as a gap-shooting specialist in the Tom Johnson mold.
ReplyDeleteHe graded out well.
DeleteBears take RB Montgomery.
ReplyDeleteBills take RB Singletary, run on backs.
ReplyDeletePacks take Sternberger TE.
ReplyDeleteWR McLaurin to Washington
ReplyDeleteDE Winovich to Pats
ReplyDeleteFins take G Deiter
ReplyDeleteDavid Long CB to Rams and Takitaki LB to Browns
ReplyDeleteSo big question for everyone, what grade do you put on the first half of this draft?
ReplyDeleteIts pretty good, don't think we could have done too much better.
DeleteAsk me in 3 years for a grade :P
Mine was posted way earlier, A-/B+ with final grade after I see what we do in the last 4 rds.
DeleteBrad, what, no answer to you own question?
DeleteI like our picks today. Not quite sure what position Risner is pegged to play. I would assume he will move inside to man one of the guard spots. And not crazy about the pick last night. Is he a weapon on offense? Yes, most likely. But from a needs perspective, I think our biggest need was the offensive line and we didn’t address that very well. Yes we got Risner, but we really need 2-3 starters in the interior and so far we have only gotten one. Maybe. Drafting in the fifth round, it will be tough to nab a very good lineman there. If I had to put a grade on it, I would say high C+ or very low B- in terms of addressing our team needs. In terms of what we got overall, B to B+. I think we got some pretty good players. Will they translate to better product on the field, we shall see.
DeleteJones could be a huge pick. If Lock turns out to be good, we may have gotten the steal of the draft, getting him at 42.
S Harris to Lions.
ReplyDeleteG Davis to Titans
ReplyDeleteCD Layne to Steelers. Good pick, I liked Layne.
ReplyDeleteDT Saunders to Kanas
ReplyDeleteFerguson to Ravens. Thats great value for the Ravens, he had red flags and dropped. Thats a Suggs replacement.
ReplyDeleteWarring to Texans, there was talk we really liked him but got Fant.
ReplyDeleteRb Harris to Pats.
ReplyDeleteLB Barton to Hawks.
ReplyDeleteLB Okereke to Colts.
ReplyDeleteRun on LBs now.
McGovern 2.0 finally goes to Cowboys.
ReplyDeleteT Pipkins to Chargers
ReplyDeleteJets take T Edoga.
ReplyDeleteWelp, my feed just got removed so, see ya all later.
ReplyDeleteprovided my answer above to my question
ReplyDeleteRavens take Boyin. That is a good pick for them.
ReplyDeleteCB Dean to Bucs.
ReplyDeleteDE Ximines to NY.
ReplyDeleteTE Know to Bills.
ReplyDeleteKnox
DeleteT Evans to Rams
ReplyDeleteLB Williams to Jags.
ReplyDeleteS Edwards to Bucs.
ReplyDeleteWow Grier goes to Panthers. Home town kid. WIll backup up Cam. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteT Cajuste to Pats
ReplyDeleteRB Mattison to Vikes.
ReplyDeleteThats the night done. See you all tomorrow for day 3.
Seems like a solid second day. Filled some positions of need at least. I still don't know what I think about Lock. If we were set on getting him, I'm glad it was where we did and not at 10 or 20.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we were set on getting him. Pretty sure Elway was just as surprised he was still available as anybody. I was also surprised Risner was still there. I'm assuming that they had pretty heavy discussion time of whether or not to take a lock or Risner at 41. Reisner must have won out. Then Elway pulled some magic to get up there and get lock. Pretty cool.
DeleteTraded our fifth round pick for LB Dekota Watson
ReplyDeleteBit of an odd/random move.
DeleteI'm pleased with the draft so far. Especially since we traded down and then traded up Like I predicted. I also had Fant as a Prospect we might be interested in with a trade down. Actually I thought we would take Risner 20 something. And I thought Haskins would be the one to fall to the second round that we would move up for. As a Hawkeye fan I can tell you that Fant is basically a big wide receiver with not so good hands. I would compare him to Demaryius Thomas. Hopefully he can be taught how to block
ReplyDeleteAccording to Adam Schefter, the Broncos traded out of their 5th-round pick (#148), to acquire Dekoda Watson and a 6th-round pick (#212) from the San Fransisco 49ers.
ReplyDeleteIf that name sounds familiar, it’s because Watson used to be a Bronco. Dekoda Watson spent a year on the Broncos roster in 2016.
Elway has indicated the Flacco/Lock situation is like Favre/Rogers. Well hopefully this one turns out better than the Manning/Osweiler situation. With Manning’s lack of desire to help develop a young QB, Osweiler mired away on the bench and then got pissed and left. So hopefully this time around it will turn out better.
ReplyDeleteQB Finley goes to the Bungles
ReplyDeletepick 156 in the 5th round, we take...
ReplyDeleteOLB Justin Hollins, Oregon
We really liked him and had him for a visit. Good pick.
DeleteDuring interview with Trey Wingo, 49ers GM John Lynch called his head coach Kyle, Mike Shanahan.
ReplyDeleteoops
DeleteTraded up and got juwann winfree wr. Interesting pick, and a local.
ReplyDeleteNo more picks left.
DeleteNo CBs selected. Elway better be able to get Harris deal done.
ReplyDeleteNo ILB help unless Hollins can play inside
ReplyDeleteThat’s the word, he can play a bit of inside.
DeleteBroncos sign undrafted QB Brett Rypien
ReplyDeleteB1st, control yourself
Ahaha
DeleteI just saw that on BroncosWire... Better lookout Drew Lock and Joe Flacco! Actually, I think this makes perfect sense. Hogan and Grayson weren't anything special although they may keep Hogan as a camp arm destined for PS - maybe. But the 3 new guys in the QB room gives us the Fair, the Heir and the Spare.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteWhat do you guys think about the Broncos trading there 5th rd pick for Dakota Watson. Personally I think it stinks. Watson is a fair mid level player but he's 31 years old! That's almost my age!... (give or take 39 years). It's almost like the Broncos thought there was no talent below round 4.5.
ReplyDeleteTo me it seems like a trade back, they wanted to pick up a sixth and we working with the 49ers to do it. But probably couldn’t sort out the compensation so threw in Watson.
DeleteSo basically we traded a 5th for a 6th because IMO, we could of got Watson (if we wanted him...not) for zip since the chances he would have made the 53 on the 49ers was fairly low. They have 8 LBs on their roster and just drafted one in the 5th (LB Dre Greenshaw, wonder where they got that pick?) to bring their total to 9 LBs. I just don't get it. I was going to drop my draft grade to a B+ due to that trade - but since they signed Rypien, LOL! I guess I'll leave it at A-/B+.
DeleteWhoever was in love with Brett Rypien will be happy. He is on our list of UDFA.
ReplyDelete2nd UDFA we signed.
DeleteOne thing that floors me and completely baffles me is that we didnt draft one single interior offensive lineman. Probably one of our weakest areas on the team and we didn’t touch it. I realize Risner is probably slated to be in there, but we lost several starters there from last year and didn’t replace them.
ReplyDeleteWe had one hole to fill and filled it, there are a few practice squad guys added.
DeleteWe have Bolles and Leary on the left, Risner and James on the right, McGovern can work G or C, at C we have Brendel and Falah (C/G). Wilkerson can play anywhere on the OL. We also have Rogers and Barclay (I don't know where their strength positions are) and as Gould mentioned, a couple of UDFAs at T & OL. Now that's better than 2018 just by itself but we now have probably the best OL coach in the league in Munchak. I'm confident that we'll be much improved, if not downright nasty on OL. And who knows, if Munchak doesn't like what he sees in camp, I'm sure JE will grab him whatever he wants - out of what's on the market at the time. Actually, I like the way things are shaping up and if worse comes to worse, I'd bet Rypien could be awesome on the OL. ;)
DeleteYeah I don’t think anyone even realized he called Kyle, Mike Shanahan. Wonder if news of that will surface on 49ers sites.
ReplyDeleteIt is almost as bad as Giant’s GM when talking about QB Dwayne Haskins, was asking if the conference Ohio State plays in is still called the Big 12. Uhhh nope. Its been called the Big 10 for about a hundred years. Dumb ass.
Colts signed Chad Kelly... 2nd chance, wish him well but still disappointed he felt that getting shitfaced on whatever he was on was more important than being a Bronco QB.
ReplyDeleteWith Luck and Brissett there I doubt he gets anywhere.
DeleteI think they will try to show him off in the preseason and then trade him somewhere.
OBF - Let's get you on record now as to how you think we did in the draft - give us your grade now rather than 2-3 years down the road.
ReplyDeleteI think grades now are meaningless at his time. Just like in past years where many thought the draft was great just to find out a few years later that it sucked. I will post my thoughts later today.

ReplyDeleteFormer Boise State QB Brett Rypien officially signed as a UDFA with the Broncos. I'm told he received a six-figure guarantee.
From rounds 3 through 7, I do not know 99% of the players, so I will only comment on the first 2 rounds. I think anyone grading any rounds now is jumping the gun, but especially round 3 though 7. You can really only objectively grade a draft after 1-3 years after.
ReplyDeleteBut here are my thoughts on the 1st 2 rounds. I was initially disappointed in the trade down. There were some some very highly regarded players available, including an inside linebacker that most on here did not like.
But given how the 2nd round turned out, I can understand why Elway made his decision. I think and hope Fant will become a huge weapon in the middle of the field and especially in the Red Zone. We clearly needed a top tight end, although most top tight ends are not 1st round picks.
Risner is highly regarded and seems to be good value in the 2nd round in an obvious area of need.
The success of the first 2 rounds will depend heavily on Drew Lock. I really only liked one QB in the draft and that was Murray. I started stating my preference for him in Nov of last year. Most folks I talked to disagreed and said he was too small. But I persisted and apparently many GMs and scouts listened to me and he went with the 1st pick. Probably my fault he was not available at 10.
As far as Lock goes, I think the risk/reward decision makes sense for a second round pick. He has a strong arm and athleticism. Maybe and hopefully he becomes a star and it turns out to be one of the best Bronco selections ever. I will be rooting for him and this scenario. Maybe he turns out to be another QB bust. I hope not, but time will tell.
Certainly, I think it was a risk worth taking. But depending on our record this year, let's not forget the outstanding QB prospects in 2020.
I hope Luck is a Hall of Famer, and will give Elway credit forever for the selection. But if he flames out, then the risk part of the equation prevails. In that scenario, I reserve the right to criticize Elway's QB evaluation and drafting process.
That is the way the GMs are evaluated, even Elway.
In the 2nd to last paragraph, I meant Lock not Luck.
