KELLY IN JAIL!!!!
ReplyDeleteBroncos backup quarterback Chad Kelly is in trouble with the law.
Kelly was charged early this morning with first-degree criminal trespassing in Englewood, Colorado, according to local police. He was taken to the county jail. It is unclear where he is now.
Police say Kelly went into a residence without permission, was chased out of the residence, and was later pursued by police.
The 24-year-old Kelly has a history of off-field issues, which is one of the reasons he lasted until the final pick of the 2017 NFL draft. He was kicked off the team at Clemson in April of 2014, and eight months later he was arrested after a bar fight in Buffalo, where his uncle Jim Kelly was a Hall of Fame quarterback. He later transferred to East Mississippi Community College (of Last Chance U fame) and then transferred to Ole Miss.
There’s been talk that Kelly could replace the struggling starter Case Keenum in Denver, but questions about Kelly’s maturity have been among the reasons the Broncos preferred an older veteran. This latest incident will do nothing to erase those questions.
I'm so disappointed - we really do suck picking QBs.
DeleteJust what we needed as a team right now,a huge distraction as we are preparing for what is likely the biggest game of the season. Biggest game from the standpoint of if we win we could be back in contention and if we lose we are certainly out of it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, pretty bloody stupid from Kelly. At least he didn't hurt anyone or was a DUI. Probably stupid drunk and got disorientated.
ReplyDeleteNot what we need right now.
Do I think he gets released? Highly doubt it. Will he get suspended, maybe. Will he get fined? Definitely.
Early talk is Kelly gets demoted to 3rd string and doesn't dress for several games. He is already not going to KC and that will no doubt be expanded while the facts are being sorted out and a final punishment (release?) decided upon. I like the kid but I don't want to invest in a talented but drunken hair-brained jerk like Johnny Manziel. IMO, Chad gets booted... what a waste!
DeleteElway and Russell need drinking buddies though lol
DeleteSome stretchy details about the whole night so will have to wait and see what comes out.
From what I read, this isn't Manizel crazy or Tyreek Hill/Ray Rice bad, still dumb though.
What was he doing? Peeping Tom?
ReplyDeleteIts hard to tell from the details been release.
DeleteAt some point he left Von's party. Then he got separated from his girlfriend, fight maybe, or she left or he just buggered off.
Maybe he then went to meet someone nearby at the complex, though didn't know what place was theirs. Saw the light come on and decided to go into that place (may have been an old girlfriend) (Why was the door unlocked lol). Then sat on the couch and talked/mumbled with the Wife and child (did they know him or not). Before being chased out by the husband (maybe she was having an affair and didn't want the hubby to know). Went back to his car at the party and was arrested. Then he was/wasn't (confusing reports on this) tested for alcohol. Returned a negative reading so it wasn't a factor. But his mugshot shows he was clearly on something (shit load of weed or maybe coke).
Crazy weird story. Also reports dude had a chest tat so it may not even have be Kelly trespassing. Lawyers will have a field day with this.
Also believe Kelly was dressed up as Woody from Toy Story.
Deletewell so much for any chance of seeing chad kelly play for denver.
ReplyDeletewe just released him
Ya, that didn't take long. Must be some parts to the story that made Elway decide to bail before they were made public. Fucking Broncos and their inept attempts to find a QB.
DeleteNFL Network's James Palmer added that prior to the arrest, Kelly was involved in a physical altercation with a guest while attending a party hosted by Broncos teammate Von Miller on Monday night. He also got into an altercation with security at the party while being escorted out.
ReplyDeleteFighting someone at a team party can't help bring the team together. I wonder if Elway ha a few visitors from his team mates to help him make the decision.
ReplyDeleteWell there goes that hope. Who we going to pin it on next. Feels so long since we had someone good at QB.
ReplyDeleteLooks like QB will again be our #1 off-season concern. Siemian or Sloter would look real good at #2 right now... but I wouldn't be surprised to see Lynch resigned. UGH!
DeleteI hope they don't bring back Lynch. I would like them to help Kelly sort his shit out and bring him back but I think he has burnt that bridge.
DeleteProblem is it seems the next corp of good QBs isn't till 2020 :(
Isaiah McKenzie is on the active roster, so we have that going for us Sunday. I'm sure he will make all the difference we need to win.
ReplyDeleteFumbles away chance...
DeleteI can't believe we resigned him to the PS and now, like a bad penny, he has slithered back onto the actives...maybe he got his eyes uncrossed and the feeling back in his hands while he was gone?
DeleteAnyone as bummed as I am about our team? Maybe I just invested too much hope in Kelly to hopefully pull us out of this funk. The fact he is gone I don't see any direction for this franchise for this year. Just ride it out and start again next year? What a wasted season.
ReplyDeleteI've tried to stay positive and support the team, but it's been tough lately. I was actually feeling optimistic abut this week until the Kelley crap, and the injury situation (did you see Von sprained his ankle in practice today??!).
ReplyDeleteIf we CAN pull out a win, I'll be more excited, but honestly, I think we'll need to start Monday by trading DT for what ever we can get, and maybe even Sanders, hopefully for a much bigger return. Just as well let the kids get some game time reps in for the rest of the year. I would keep Harris to build around.
Yeah Von is minor but still, not a great week for us.
DeleteNeed to move DT and get younger. I'd keep Sanders because of his effort and Harris is still young. But yeah we are now in full rebuild. New coach and Qb most likely.
Each unit needs a vet leader/role model/mentor and He-mmanuel is that for the receivers. DT - not so much or redundant at best.
DeleteToo bad about Von - speaking of which, I read that it was Von who Kelly got into it with at Von's party. Could his ankle injury have happened then and could it have factored in Kelly being released?
Oh and, which Harris, Jr or Shelby? Of course we keep Jr for the same reasons we keep Hemmanuel.
I'm not throwing in the towel! D was great last week. No way they do that to the Chefs though. Just run the damn ball all game and we stand a chance if we can win TOP and score TDs instead of FGs.
ReplyDeleteWe got Keenum again next year if we want him. We need a first-round cornerback worse than we need a first-round quarterback.
ReplyDeleteYep, we need a CB but good CBs are more plentiful than good QBs and if Kareenum continues to be mediocre to poor, then yes, we do need a QB over any other position.
DeleteI still feel we need a left tackle also. Bolles can play right tackle.
ReplyDeleteBolles isn'r a first year phenom like Clady was, but he's not bad. He still needs experience, technique and bulk IMO - and that applies to left or right side. Kareenum holding the ball way too long doesn't help Bolles (not excusing Bolles' fuck-ups) nor does it help with timing for receivers.
DeleteA first round corner back and a first round left tackle. Are there any first round caliber QB's in next year's draft? Some will be taken in the first, but should any be? This class looks pretty weak so far.
ReplyDeleteThere's ALWAYS (almost I think) 1st rd QBs in every draft. Whether they live up to it or not is the gamble. Mahomes was 10th and nobody but KC thought he'd be this good, Flacco was 18th and Cousins was 102nd - those are 3 out of the current top 5 QBs in 2018. So who knows?
DeleteHaven't thrown in the towel. Just don't see a clear path back to the playoffs. I don't think our current squad can do it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not as down on Bolles as some. I think he is developing fine.
We need corner help though.
Isn't any QBs being talked about big time yet. There is Hubert but looking like he will go back to school. Another guy that looks like an Allen clone though.
Have to do more research, really didn't want to be looking at QBs before the bye week :(
Drew Lock is the other one.
DeleteOn top of everything else or maybe hidden by everything else, the Broncos ownership and trust situation is starting to fire up. Pat Bowlen's daughter Beth Bowlen Wallace, came out in June expressing her interest in becoming the controlling owner of the Broncos. More recently, her sister Brittany Bowlen has tossed her hat in the ring for ownership of the team and now, Pat's brother Bill Bowlen has filed a lawsuit to remove the 3 person trustee board that oversees the Broncos organization in lieu of Pat Bowlen's request after his disability from Alzheimer's disease. The shit-hole keeps growing while my hopes for 2018 and the near future dwindle. Oh well, Bronco riding isn't supposed to be easy!
ReplyDeleteYeah it’s tough. From what I’ve read in the past Brittany is the preferred option.
DeleteIf Kelly got into it with Von that changes everything (especially if the injury is related). Explains why they would cut him now instead of wait it out like Gotsis.
ReplyDeleteGiven our track record of drafting QBs, I don't have a lot of faith in our ability to draft one. And unfortunately, there are no Peyton Mannings with expiring contracts this year. Tyrod Taylor, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater seem to be the best of those available.
ReplyDeleteWe are in a bad place at QB unless Keenum finds last years' success in a big hurry.
Seems we have a more pronounced police record at QB than a track record over the past 2 seasons... and that list of QBs you added make me go limp. Fitz caught fire at the start of this year but like Kareenum, soon fell into his normal rut. Taylor never seems to rise, hell, Buffalo cut him. McCown and Bridgewater have "BACKUP" stenciled where their name is supposed to go on their jersey's. Thanks for the screw job Chad, been about half a season since our last one. Oh, I''m back to rooting for Keenum by rustling my paper bags... Yaaaaay!!!!
DeleteBroncos signed a 2015, 3rd rd and 3 year retreaded practice squad QB Garrett Grayson to our PS... be still my heart!
DeleteGrayson (6-2, 213 pounds) is a 27-year-old quarterback that entered the NFL as a third-round pick out of Colorado State with the Saints in 2015. He lasted just two seasons in New Orleans and spent last year on the Falcons’ practice squad.
But we still have Hogan to fall back on....
DeleteLiterally fall back on...and back, back, back...
DeleteAwesome. Freeman is officially out for the KC game.
ReplyDelete3&out on 1st series.
ReplyDelete3&out for KC too
ReplyDeleteChubb and Von putting on the pressure.
DeleteTD Lindsay! 7-0 Denver!
DeleteKC held to 3, 7-3 Denver.
ReplyDeleteWe'll take that exchange 7 for 3 any day.
DeleteBooker filling in well for Royce.
ReplyDeleteMcGovern hold wipes out 22yd lindsay run
ReplyDelete55yd FG by McMoney missed 7-3 Denver.
ReplyDeleteI think that was his first miss of the season.
DeleteMissing the game today, but looks like we are playing a hell of a lot better.
ReplyDeleteWe are playing better, still getting screwed by unnecessary penalties.
Deletethat comes down to discipline and coaching, something we are sorrly lackin in
Deletesorely
Deletedamnit. Missed a FG. We have to put points on the board when we have a chance.
ReplyDeletewell so much for that. Tie game.
ReplyDeletecorrection. should be a tied game. we are down 3
DeleteTD KC, 10-7 KC.
ReplyDeleteWelp, Kareenum regressing back to his hold-um game and our D getting overworked... looks like another ass-whoopin ordered up for Denver. Oh well, we had the lead for about 10 minutes... yay...oh boy, rah.
ReplyDeleteWe're drawn off for 2nd time by Mahomes cadence.
ReplyDeleteTD KC 17-7 KC... we suck.
ReplyDelete16-7 KC missed PAT.
DeleteBut we still suck...
DeleteKareenum has zero chance of coming back from 9 down (KC missed PAT), he just isn't good enough, a backup at best.
ReplyDeleteWatch VJINA piss on the final 54 seconds...
ReplyDeleteTd Sutton!
ReplyDeletePatrick wasn't it?
DeleteWOW! Kareenum throw a long ball short but Patrick hauls it in! 16-14 KC.
ReplyDeleteoh my app said it was Sutton at first. It was Patrick
ReplyDeleteTD KC 23-14 KC
ReplyDeleteWe start the 2nd half by sucking every KC player and then bending over for a reach-around by Andy Reid.
Deletemaybe they should have blown the refs instead.
Deletegreat run brought back by a damn penalty
ReplyDeleteAnother 23yd run by Lindsay called back by Garcia hold - added to the 22 earlier, that's 55yds called back.
ReplyDeleteanother penalty
ReplyDeleteAnother McGovern block in back to cancel a 10yd gain by Lindsay.
ReplyDeletemaybe someone needs to tell the offense you are supposed to move the ball forward
ReplyDeleteBooker gains 14 with no take back penalty--- WOW!
ReplyDeleteAnd Keenum gets sacked... again (3rd or 4th) while Wadman the wad kicker shanks one setting KC up for another score... so much for the game, set, season...WE SUCK.
Deletekc scored,no sense in keeping score anymore.
Deletehey maybe we will get in the top two or three picks.
ReplyDeleteAt this point, may as well go for it on 4th down. A FG does us no good here being down 16
ReplyDeleteFor those playing at home, Everyone on the line besides Bolles has a holding penalty. Good job Bolles.
ReplyDeleteGive him time. He will have one before the end of the game.
Deleteholy shit we scored a TD
ReplyDeletethought for sure Keenum was going to get sacked on 4th down.
ReplyDeletetried for 2 and failed
ReplyDeleteThere is the Bolles hold lol
ReplyDeleteKareenm looks like he was hurt on that last strip sack, he's warming up before going in... another fumble coming?
ReplyDeleteNaw, it'll be an INT, he hasn't had one of those today.
DeleteHmmm... easy call.
DeleteThere is the pick.
DeleteProblem is we got no one to bench Keenum for.
ReplyDeleteMcKensie down, yaaaay!
ReplyDeleteThe Broncos are gonna empty the Tampax dispenser machine in the locker room tonight,
ReplyDeleteAnd they have to do their clown car fire alarm drill to end it... so pathetic.
DeleteSome quick thoughts.
ReplyDeleteCase is an improvement over last year but not enough to be starter worthy.
From the effort and current young talent level, I think we are a competent QB and coaching staff away from being a playoff team. Though we need CB, ILB and OL help to contender for a Superbowl.
Bummer the two most important spots we are weakness at.
Also would say Elway needs some credit for putting together a nice looking young roster, we will be an appealing place for coaches. Also needs criticism for not addressing our biggest issues (QB, HC, ILB, CB, OL).
ReplyDelete50% the season is gone and so is 99.5% of the hope for at least a .500 season.

ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteLindsey had a very good game and Booker showed some life.
Does that pretty much some up the positives from the game?
Has DT been traded yet?
Looking like it will be the Pats.
DeleteDT to the Texans for a supposed mid round pick
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing it reported as a 4th round pick and a swap of 7th round picks.
DeleteIt is also being reported that we are taking a dead cap hit of 7.5 mil this year and 3.5 mil next year.
Deleteyup, Broncos traded wide receiver Demaryius Thomas to the Texans in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick. Denver and Houston also exchanged 2019 seventh-round picks in the trade.
DeleteThe only difference is the money "With the trade, the Broncos created up to $18 million in extra 2019 salary cap space".
"That means the Broncos will save $4 million in salary cap space this year, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Before the Thomas trade, the NFLPA’s public salary cap report indicated that the Broncos had about $5 million in available cap space. The team will have about $9 million now.
If Denver does not use that $9 million this year, it will roll over into next year’s cap. Thomas was on the books to have a $14 million cap hit in 2019. So the Broncos could have $18 million more next year than they would have before the Thomas trade."
That mean Thomas is playing us this week?
DeleteYup.
DeleteI'll bet he doesn't drop one stinking pass the whole game either.
ReplyDeleteBest snarky quote from a Broncos fan about Thomas. "I hope he can catch his flight to Houston"
ReplyDeleteI've stayed away because I am not as optimistic as the folks on here, but the season is going the way that I expected.
ReplyDelete1) I was extremely disappointed when Elway signed Keenum. He is who I thought he was. He is near the bottom of the league in QB rankings. He has thrown at least one pick in every game. He has missed wide open game winning throws. I never thought he was much of a upgrade to Siemian or Oz and he is certianly not $14 million better than them.
2) I was so diappointed when we let Siemian and Oz go and did not draft a QB. I knew Lynch was a bust for at least a year. I had no confidence in Kelly even though folks on here did. There was a reason he was the last pick in the draft. He was a fuck up in college and is still a fuck up. Good riddance. We only used the last pick in the draft so no big deal, but now we are left with a bare cupboard at QB.
3) Not a good QB class coming into the draft this year, so where do we turn? I am tired of Elway blowing QB selections. And Kubiak always looks for QBs like himself. I don't want a QB like Kubiak. I want a TALENTED young QB.
4) I have been saying for years that Elway has sucked in the drafts. People on here always disagree, but the talent on the field the last 2 years is a direct impact of all the sucky draft picks and all the busts. I think Boles will be another first round bust. The 2018 draft class was much better and has a chance to be a great draft if you add undrafted Lindsey to it. We need a few more draft classes like this to return to contender status.
4) We have been trying to fix our QB and OL problems for the last 3 years and have made no progress. Whoever is evaluating the talent at these 2 positions needs to hit the road.
5) I am Elway fan and don't ever want to call for his head, but God Dammit, it is time for him to do a much better job .
I can't argue with anything you said, OBF. It seems odd to me that even after all the poor draft classes we've had, we still have a lot of the same people evaluating talent. Seems like we would have tried something different by now, and that is directly on Elway.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteAgree with most of what you had said OBF.
DeleteI think we all been in agreement Elway sucked at drafting. Usually only gets one contributor out of the whole process. But not a lot of teams do well. He has made it work in FA.
I'd say our OLine has been improving, the analytics backs it up. But we have only moved from being at the bottom of the league to the middle of the pack.
Though most of the sacks in the Chiefs game were coverage sacks. Either guys can't get open or Keenum can't make a decision (I figure it is on the QB).
OBF, I agree with all except for Oz, IMO, he's a backup, not a starter. I liked TS a lot but in the end, he's just too vanilla. In his defense, I think him getting the shit kicked out of him every week due to lousy OL protection, caused a lack of confidence, something there wasn't much of to begin with. Time off on the bench in Minnesota may help heal that and who knows what his future there will be.I also like Sloter even though the sample size was too small to know for sure. Point is, we shoulda kept one of the 2 as a backup... I have zero faith in Hogan.
DeleteLike Gould, I believe we have made some improvement on the OL, especially in the run game. Pass protection and penalties still suck but at least we are out of the bottom 2 of OLs. I never had much faith in Kareenum - hope yes, but no faith that he could get it done. He lacks accuracy and decision making... when he isn't missing an easy throw, he's holding the ball waaaaay too long putting undue pressure on out mediocre OL. The result is we come up short when just it counts the most... sorta like Orton, good between the 20s but unable to score when it counts.
Finally, I am a big Elway fan, always have been however, in the NFL, the last buck will ultimately fall to him. His drafting has been good on the low rounds and FA players have been above average but man, his top half round choices have been lousy - and that's where a team should be building it's core. I hope JE can turn it around, the 2018 draft looks real solid. Not certain why that happened but IMO, it's because of head of personnel Kubiak... except for QBs, he still goes for the "grounded" game managers and not the flashy gunslingers or risk takers.
I also agree that so far, this year's QB draft class doesn't hold much hope for us... but ya never know. Andy Reid knew who he wanted when he moved up to get Mahomes and better yet, he knows how to develop a QB, not like the Broncos who destroy our young QBs or put too much on them and then jettison them without giving them the tools needed to succeed.
One more thing, Elway can't pick coaches either. Kubes was the best of his choices but without PFM and Phillips, I'm not convinced Kubes would have won a SB. Wade's defense did that, even with a PFM in his decline. I sure as hell don't think VJina is worth a shit. Elway should have had the balls to fire his candy ass soccer mom coach last year. I know, the players backed him but ya, who would want to lose a coach who never pushed you, got in your face and excused every mistake you ever made? A wimp who never had a bad practice but never had a winner that he coached - anywhere. Bottom line, the Broncos are again at a crossroads. We do have young talent on the player side but coaching is a mess and so are the key positions at QB, right/left tackle OL, TE and kick/punt return on O/STs and CB on D. Elway needs to continue to build on last year’s draft and somehow, some way, find a good HC with good staff and of course, a QB who isn’t just a gap filler for the next draft bust.
In agreement. I think we are all on the same page.
DeleteAlso think of the players that were average here but playing well elsewhere. Like Green and Schofield at the Chargers. Having a good QB helps a lot.
We will have a new HC next year and it looks like there are a lot of good candidates to pick from. But I think we will play second fiddle to the Browns. With the Browns roster I'd say we would be the second most sort after job.
Elway and Ellis need to hit on the next HC big time. Though I bet we do something crazy and bring back Old Shanny.
I hear ya about players being cut and thriving in other systems under other coaching. I'm always worried about it whenever we get rid of someone. Except for the one that we brought back, McKensie, him I'm positive is shit and it blows me away that he's back on the team. I'm waiting to see who makes Lynch a real QB... it's like the laws of nature have suddenly been reversed.
DeleteNobody will make Lynch a real QB, just like nobody made Tebow a real QB. Just a couple of wasted 1st round picks. One by dipshit and one by Elway.
DeleteCould always be worse, could be the Raiders.
ReplyDeleteMcKenzie waived and Cracraft promoted. Can we finally please just give up on Mckenzie?
ReplyDeleteAnd Cravens is back to active roster.
ReplyDeleteThis could be a huge boost.
DeleteReality. I love hearing from you OBF. I do have to say I am rather disappointed in the fact that you choose to stay away because I(we) tend to be over positive on things. The season has gone according to what you predicted. Mostly because good luck has he evaded us for the most part. Other than the Arizona game. Which I feel was more of them being terrible than us being good. I knew coming in, that the defense had to be great again this year for us to do worth the s***. I knew Roby was not the answer. Aside from that though, I wish you would comment more on here. I(we) need your reality!
ReplyDelete
