Broncos v GB

  1. Gee, that didn't take long 7-0 pack

  2. End of 1st qtr - we are down to the GB 4yd line 1st & goal

    ReplyDelete
  3. TD BRONCOS! Lindsay on 15 play drive, 7-7. Best start this year!

    ReplyDelete
  4. We fumble on the 5 yd... gonna be an easy 7 for GB.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Halftime, Broncos playing better but still losing and what's worse is we've had some injuries, Wolfe the most notable. Hope it's not season ending.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Fant fumbles, GB scores, 24-10 GB. Takeaways, mistakes are killing our best effort game. Sad.

    ReplyDelete
  7. We spend TOs in the 2nd half of games like they aren't worth anything.

    ReplyDelete
  8. 3rd & goal on the 1...Lindsay with a helluva 2nd effort gets the TD! And Mc misses the x-pt... 24-16 GB.

  9. I watched the game but on the phone since the game started at 3 for me.

I’m surprised how competitive we were but turnovers killed us. Not going to beat the pack with -3, game plan was good, limit Rodgers, keep him off the field and win TOP. Just couldn’t get it done. Would be nice if we could get a sack and/or a turnover. Doesn’t get easier with the Jags next.

  10. I was in Milwaukee for a wedding this weekend so missed the game completely. Cheeseheads everywhere, but not a single person commented on my Broncos gear, except a few go Packers or good luck comments. I was expecting to catch some grief!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I see we now are first in order for waiver claims. So we have that going for us.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I think we can give the Jags a good push. I don’t believe their offense can push our D. I expect this too be a low scoring defensive battle, the difference I’m hoping is Sutton, sanders or Lindsay breaking one to put us in front.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Also looking at other teams and the big difference between them and us is offensive line play. Specifically the tackle play and you can see that in the game plan of a lot of short quick passes (rich called a pretty good game). Wilkerson is what he is, a average starter. James is meant to be the solution there.

I’m done with Bolles and it doesn’t have to do with the holds. The talent is there, you can see the talent but he hasn’t improved and built on it. It has been three years and his play is still very similar to what he was his rookie year. I’d move on.

Now he is a leap for you, there is a good LT out there not playing. Let’s flip Bolles for Trent Williams and probably throw in another pick. Or get Williams outright and try to redevelop Bolles as a guard, maybe to replace Leary.

  14. Haha. TY for the comments 1st and G! I don't have time to be on here like I used to be. I enjoy reading the blog still though.

    1. Same, average offenses against good defense. Will be close low scoring game.

  17. C'mon 1st. Please give me updates.

  18. Good start to game so far, Fant scores a TD.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Good first half, we are on top. Scored two tds. Miller and Chubb both have sacks. Flacco threw a bad int to end the half but it didn’t hurt us much.

    ReplyDelete
  20. 10 minute drive for jags led to TD. We couldn’t get the qb on the ground and he made things happen. Chubb had a bad penalty which let the drive continue.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Man Jags back in this. Scored again, both tds on Hollins. Young rook getting picked on but the D is tired. Offense needs to help them out.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Rough quarter, two three and outs for us. Offense needs to get going as fournette is on the roll.

    ReplyDelete
  23. What a rough half, defense forgot how to tackle but they are very tired. Offense hasn’t helped at all, need a good drive here.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Sutton scored. But jags won on a fg. Great first half, fell apart in the second. Defense really struggled, got to say they missed Jewell big time after he left hurt. Offense needed to be better to support them.

    1. Again we looked competitive, then have lapses and end up losing. We are better than an 0-4 team but just can’t finish. Schedule is tough this year, it will be hard to luck into a win, just need to keep competing and maybe our luck will turn.

      Delete
  26. I said that I would evaluate this team after the first 4 games, but I just don't have the heart to say it.

If they don't upset the Chargers next week, we will start 0-5 for the first time in our 60 year old history.

I don't think this team is the worst team we have ever had, but they are heading in that direction.

NOW, Chubb is out for the year with an ACL injury. I know he was hurt, left the game, came back and got hurt again. I hope the clowns running this team did not risk his future by putting him back out there.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Just saw Chubb is out. Geez. This could get real ugly. I would still put my money on the Broncos vs the spread though this week. Like G said, we're hanging in there, just need a few breaks.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah this isn't the worst team we have had but the schedule looks very tough.

Sucks about Chubb, our year goes from bad to worse. Didn't Chubb play through the injury to end the game? He showed some real heart to be out there.

    ReplyDelete
  29. James is back at training, I hope he can get back healthy and stay that way. We need him in a big way.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Things would be so different if Russell Wilson had been Jack Elway's college roommate.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Good start, jano and Purcell have made big differences to this team. We look good so far.

    ReplyDelete
  32. If you lads ain’t watching you missing out. Sutton with a big score. We rolling so far.

    ReplyDelete
  33. First turnover, Von is getting some pressure. Simmons int. Everything is firing today!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Also Jackson makes a big difference.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Great stop on the 1. Solid first half.

    ReplyDelete
  36. We got an int in the red zone. Flacco a little rattled with two turnovers though.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Bausby to IR. Bad injury but I hope he comes back strong next year. I think he has a future here.

Lock also has started throwing again.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Nasty injury. Glad it wasn't career ending.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I liked Purcell at NT and Harris at DE a lot better than Harris at NT and Gottsis at DE. I like Alexander Johnson a lot better at ILB than Jewell.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm not getting to watch it again.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Sorry was working all morning.

Wasn’t much to report, offenses couldn’t get much going but our defense played well. Defensive game and we got the W.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Watched on gamecast. Good D. Got the shutout. Wolfe hurt again.

    ReplyDelete
  43. After re-watching the game. Jackson at Safety, AJ at ILB and Purcell at NT has been a god send. Those three probably been our best players through the last two games and it is no surprise both have been wins. Really impressed by the mid-season shift that has got better talent on the field.

    ReplyDelete
  44. A few trades already happening as that market starts to heat up. I wonder if we will be involved at all?

Also how big is Thursday's game going to be for us. If we beat the Chiefs we will be 3-4 and 1 game out of 1st place in the division.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Solid start so far. Defense will need to make some plays to keep us in this.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Mahomes out hurt but Flacco turning the ball over. Offensive going to need to get it together.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Defensively we are doing ok, offensively not so much. When Flacco has time we can move the ball. When he doesn’t we can’t. Would be nice to see Lindsay get more involved.

    ReplyDelete
  48. What an abysmal offensive showing. Weakest parts of this team are offensive line and QB. Hopefully James is healthy soon and we will probably see Lock when he is back too.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Finally got to watch a game. What a disappointing experience. Same shit, different year, coach and players. Flacco looked like Orton. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  50. Looks like this site has reached the end too.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Just seems to be a few of us that come in and out.

Overall I’m not excited for this team but I am for some of the players. I tune in for AJ, Purcell, Simmons, Jackson, Sutton, Lindsay and Risner. Watching them interests me, the rest of the team not so much.

  52. Hi guys... This is a sad day for me and this is hard for me to say this, but I feel I owe it to you guys. Truth is, Digger said what has been apparent for quite some time - "Looks like this site has reached the end too". Sad but true. To be honest, I gave up during the GB game, just the 3rd game of the season and zero commenters besides myself. I'll say it, I was pissed, disappointed in "Denver Broncos True Fans" for not showing up - so, I left my last angry message and stopped posting. I mean really, total posts for the first 3 games of the 2019 season were less than what we normally, previously had for just 1 game - and most of those comments came from me jabbering away to myself with a few replies from Gould, Head and sometimes Digger. What's even worse, there have been no more posts put up since that GB game (this same post) and 4 full games later, 5 games total on this post, and the comments are still less than 1 game from past seasons. The vital signs are all but gone, the pulse weak, brain waves sporadic, breathing shallow... it's time to put this horse down (sorry Thunder, not you). So my plan was to see if anyone cared or maybe it was just me and everyone was simply tired of reading me yak on and on. Well, my experiment to see if anyone still cared, the results are in... it was probably both me and life moving on and lost hope for the Broncos and, and, and... you get it, it just happens. But hey, I couldn't leave without saying how much fun it's been guys, how much I looked forward to reading what everyone had to say everyday but most of all, being with a great bunch of Bronco fans on game days, drafts, off-seasons, hirings, firings, the whole Bronco gamut of highs and lows of the Bronco rollercoaster, that over the years, I've come to think of you all as friends, good friends, guys I respect and truly care about. It's been a great ride guys. Man, at one time, we had a very spirited, very vocal and knowledgeable group of Broncos fans - long time commeters from the old Rocky Mountain News blog that lost that home when the newspaper died. Although one by one, over the last ten years (has it really been that long?) most stopped dropping by, but all in all, it's been great knowing you all and being able to talk all things Broncos with some of the best fans in the NFL. My hat is off to you gentlemen, each and every one of you and I hope for nothing but the best for you all. To diehards Digger, Gould, Head, Brad, OBF, Delaware - you are the cream and to Dehag, Doc, Atwater, Rocky - you are fondly remembered and to all the others who posted here in the past, I thank you all, you are all the best! GO BRONCO!

  53. I think of all of you as friends too. If the site and the last survivors are truly on the last leg, I would like to ask that we keep the site alive enough to stay in touch. Or Facebook friends or something. I am already friends with Dehag on Facebook and enjoy seeing his posts.

As for keeping this site alive, sounds good, I think Brad is the only one with the administrative power to shut it down... maybe Dehag too but he rarely shows up.

  55. Don't give up on the site. I'm here to save the day.

Just like I am saving the Broncos. Don't forget I signed Peyton Manning.

Thought I would share a few of my strategies with you, so you don't give up. These strategies are taking longer than i expected, but don't forget that I signed Peyton Manning.

HIRING COACHES - Hire inexperienced coaches cheap. The dollars that are saved help pay my high salary and keep me on as God, oops mean GM. If the coach succeeds, I get all of the credit for giving him a chance. If he fails, I sleep on it and then can him and move on. Brilliant.

QBs - Too many fans think that the new athletic mobile QBs that are tearing up the league, are the way too go. My wisdom says that this is a fad and I will keep bringing in old white giraffes at QB. Remember I signed Peyton Manning. First Keenum, then Flacco and I have my eye on Andy Dalton for next year. My Master Plan is to swoop in and sign Tom Brady whenever the Patriots give up on him. Can't wait for everyone to praise me and the GM that signed Manning and Brady.

Under my brilliant leadership, we will return to dominance.

But we are definitely not rebuilding.

    1. Yup, it was a slim win but a win. I was impressed with Josh Allen, good decisions, quick reads, a fast release, good speed and decent pocket awareness... certainly not what we've seen from Sacco. The question is if he can consistently repeat that 125.6 QBR.

      Delete
    2. Brandon Allen, not Josh, you knew who I meant...

      Delete
  59. He looked poised and did enough.

We really need an offensive line before we can get a clear picture on our QBs. Bummer our next stretch of games are against good teams, no easy wins.

  62. Obviously happy we won the Cleveland game. Maybe with the bye this week we can continue to improve. Who would have guessed Alexander Johnson would be the answer at ILB, other than Elways Ego?

We still have to fire Bolles though. Maybe Gotsis can play left tackle! he seems to have fallen out of favor on the D line. He couldn't do any worse.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I knew Alexander Johnson was the answer, remember I found Phillip Lindsey and Chris Harris Jr. And I signed Peyton Manning.

I heard there was this really smart guy on this site named Old Bronco Fan (OBF). Where has he been? Would love to chat with him. He seems as smart as me.

  64. Seems Lock is back training, I wonder if he will be backup or start?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I read something where Klis reported that Lock would start the final 2 games of the season - unless Allen got hurt or his play falls off drastically. The Broncos have 21 days to activate Lock after coming off IR or else he will be placed on IR for the remainder of the season - I'm not certain but I think that 21 days begins when he starts practicing with the team? So basically, Broncos are leaving everything open until the see more from Allen and whether he can repeat his good first outing.

      Delete
    2. "until they see more from Allen"

      Delete
    3. Yep, from today they have 3 weeks to put him on the activate roster or he stays on IR.

I believe the thinking is see how Allen goes, see if by some miracle he can win the next three games. If not it is buying time for Lock to get ready and then start to end the season. An injury to Allen will change all that though.

      Delete
    4. Also if Brissett is still hurt, I wonder if they will give Kelly the start over Hoyer.

    1. Yep played really well the first, second half didn’t start great but still a long way to go.

      Delete
  66. Poor second half, Vikings are a good team and played really well in the second, we had our chances but couldn’t get it done. Still a lot to like about this team, jury still out on Allen.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Man that sucked. Another loss jerked out of the hands of victory.

    ReplyDelete
  68. We've had two consistent flaws in 2019, the defense has been unable to stop opponents when the game is on the line and offense has been unable to convert 3rd downs. Both flaws seem to be most apparent in the 2nd half of games - we simply don't adjust well to opponent's 2nd half adjustments... we fade in the 3rd & 4th quarters which suggests the coaching/play calling at the root. Somehow we need to learn how to finish close games.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. As for Allen, his QBR went from 125.6 last week to 61.9 this week... big swing. His mechanics are good, fast releases & decisions but this week he tossed more away when the primary wasn't open... yes, there were also a few drops and tosses that were off target (mostly high) and some of that can be attributed to the lack of protection. Oh well, not surprised, in fact I said to myself "we'll probably lose" after MN scored to start the 2nd...the Broncos are Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde - maybe we'll get to see Lock before the final 2 home games?

  72. Rough day of football, our defense kept it close for much of the game but our offense did nothing. Allen isn't the future.

    ReplyDelete
  73. It's Tuesday morning and I can still smell the stink... Allen appears to be a flash in the pan... either that or our QB coaches are particularly adept at destroying QBs. Right now, I'm uncertain either way. I guess Lock will be the test since by most accounts, he is a decent college QB with a slightly above average possibility of being at least average or better at the NFL level. If the Broncos coaches can destroy him to a 22% completion and 31.6 QBR tackling dummy, then we can be fairly sure it's the coaches.

    1. I’m not sure Elway in his prime would be successful behind this OFFENSIVE line. I’m sure all the “lookout!” blocks would have an impact on any QBs numbers and ability.

    1. I'm really struggling with deciding if that is a good thing or not! Great to get a look at him to see what we have, but is 5 games enough compared to the risk of ruining him?

Best case might be to treat the rest of the season kind of like preseason. Let each of them alternate starting and playing a quarter and let the not hand take over for the second half.

      Delete
  77. So many QBs that we've failed on by getting them or not getting them! A long and painful journey. Enough to make many of us die hard fans fall. I admit I don't watch religiously anymore. I do still wear Bronco attire almost everyday though. Looking forward to the Lock era. Please, please, please be the answer!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Looks like lock is going to start. Let’s see what he has got.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Solid win, hot start, faded in the second. Did enough to beat the Chargers.

Don't want to get too excited but Lock looked pretty good in the first. Made some rookie mistakes and errant throws but overall looked more like a 'QB' than anyone else we trotted out in a while.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I'm happy overall with Lock's debut but after the QB rides we've been on, I'll keep one foot on the brakes. Sutton has been having a pro bowl year, very impressive. A couple of things have been bothering me on D all year, #1 is the play of Chris Harris which has fallen off greatly this season. Unfortunately he gets beat as often as he succeeds. #2, it pains me to say that Von's play has declined a lot as well. I wouldn't object to the Broncos entertaining trades for both players - especially if our QB situation improves. What we'd get in trade could help the Broncos put the pieces together for a new, younger era of winning in Denver.

All that future stuff aside, I was hoping to lose our final 5 games while still seeing a big upside in Lock's play... 2019 is all about getting a top 5 draft position at this point - and seeing who we keep, who we trade and who we let walk going into 2020.

    ReplyDelete
  81. It was a win and what I saw of Lock, I liked. Sometimes a new face can help get the win though. Need more to look at. I didn't get the game until after the Chiefs won. Saw highlights and watched on phone.
I'm not opposed to salary dumps on certain players this offseason.

    ReplyDelete
  82. The second half fade I’ll blame on Scaredangelo and poor play calling. Lock looked better than what we’ve trotted out there lately, but Allen played well initially too. One foot on the brakes is great advice as far as Lock goes.

We need so many holes filled in order to be competitive that It wouldn’t upset me to trade Chris Harris and Miller then completely retool the team. As it stands, both will be past their useful NFL lifespan before we’re competitive, so trade them Now while They still have value and get on with the rebuild.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Harris is either not trying hard enough or he has been struggling on the outside with speed WR. (I think he is mailing it in). Bummer we can't trade him, we would need to tag him to do so.

Von's sack numbers are down but his pressures are still at an all time high. I'd keep Von, plus he is the face of the franchise at the moment so I don't think they move him.

I'd like to keep Wolfe but I think he will get big money thrown at him, I wonder if he takes another home town discount.

Lock I think just had more X-factor than Allen, he just seems to have 'it'. It will be interesting to see how he develops over the coming weeks. And I love he has the balls to change plays (if the stories are true).

  84. Who in the hell is this orange team kicking the shit out of the Texans? 38-3 in the 3rd... I'm shocked!

    1. Who WAS that team indeed!! Has it taken this long for the players to adjust to the new coaches and schemes and gel as a team, or are they setting us up for further heartbreak this season? lol!

      Delete
    2. Yep, setting us up for sure... I'm trying to keep that one foot on the brake but it's hard to do while you're jumping up and down. I was hoping for a 4-12 draft position but that's gone, 5-11 is our best shot if we can lose the final 3 games but the way the team has played the last 2 games, they could win out! There, that should jinx them! LOL! No really, I've see enough of Lock to be comfortable with him, Allen and Rypien going into 2020, all I want now is the best draft position we can get out of this lost year.

      Delete
    3. "seen enough" not see enough...

      Delete
    4. Imagine if this team won out and went 8-8.

A QB that can throw, move around in the pocket and not get sacked, has made a big difference to this team.

Don't want to count our chickens yet but Lock is looking great. His biggest issues are his foot work/base and the reliance on the wristband but the dude can throw.

      Delete
  85. Lock is impressing. Both games though got close yet at the end. The lead could have been bigger except he threw a pick to stop good drives.
Wish I could say I've been getting to watch him.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Digger, you need to watch Lock play... really. The 2 picks in 2 games isn't much and both relate to one thing, Lock is fearless! The announcer yesterday said Lock "Got greedy" and in a sense I agree but I don't think that's a bad thing. He wants to make big plays, to score and to win. That "take a check-down, take a knee or take a sack" bullshit doesn't appear to be in his playbook. Honestly, I have seen some of the best throws and catches I have ever seen from the Broncos under Lock and yes, I'm serious. The unbelievable TD catches to Fant and Sutton the last 2 games were really more like magic tricks that left me scratching my head like "How'd he just do that"? The answer is Lock throws into very tight windows at times, but man, somehow they are just unbelievably perfect... and the catches are equally mind blowing, just totally unexpected. My biggest fear is that what I'm seeing is a fluke, an aberration or just plain dumb luck but if it is, I'm beginning to think it's consistent. Ya I know, I'm being overly optimistic and reality is lining it's big boot up to my wide open ass, but I know what I see even if I also know it's half wishful thinking... thing is, time will tell and I'm pretty sure KC, DET or OAK is going to bring me back down to the fact that Lock is still just a rookie and many of those amazing plays were just a fraction of an inch off of becoming picks, incompletions or sacks. But in the meantime, I'll enjoy the ride - it's fun to think we may be relevant again soon, very soon! You need to watch a game or 3 bro, you're missing some fun shit!

    2. Oh and the games getting close at the end? Ya, that's true but that's on the defense and mostly on the coaches going conservative. We need to do better in the 2nd half of games. We need a pounder, a closer that occasionally gets the big break out runs but will always get the 2-4 yds to move the chains when we have a lead. Lindsey is great but we often put a lot on him, like everyone in the 4 corners knows he's getting the ball. I'd like to see Freeman get more of those pounder plays.

  86. I will get to watch this week. KC games are always on here.

  87. Does that mean Lock’s honeymoon is over or are we that far behind KC. We didn’t exactly strike fear into the hearts of anyone with that effort. Crap conditions for sure, but same for KC.

    1. The term "mudder" comes to mind and the possibility that we don't have a "mudder" in Drew Lock... a potentially great racehorse yes, but one who doesn't like to run in the mud. IDK, it just seemed like the look on Lock's face from the first play was that he didn't want to be there, like he'd rather be back in that nice warm locker room. I could be wrong, KC is a very good team and would make any opponent look like they'd rather not be there. Whatever, it was by far Lock's worst outing to date, but I expected it - he is a rookie after all with just 3 starts now. In retrospect, it may be good for him... bring him back down to earth as to the difficulty of playing QB in the NFL. I'm not disappointed at all, like I said, I expected it and as far as the "win" goes, I'd rather we lose all our final games for the upcoming draft. Not to make excuses but the rest of the team had bad performances too. Receivers dropped passes hitting their hands, RBs were MIA, the OL sucked and the entire D looked awful - coaches made some "meh" play calls too and the refs were blind, and it wasn't a home game, and we had too many in injury, and the weather, and I was hungry... oh wait, I said I wasn't going to make excuses. Never mind, the whole team just looked bad except for a couple of scarce plays... Oh well, 5-9 hoping for 5-11, YOU CAN DO IT BRONCOS!

    2. I love it! Suck for Lock! Oh wait, we already have him.

    3. I don't think Lock was that bad. Three things stand out that didn't make it easy for him. Drops, I counted at least 4 that hit hands and were dropped. The offensive line play was pretty bad, both Bolles and Wilkerson struggled with their kick steps in the snow and the edge rushers had a day of it, almost every time Lock dropped back he was being put on his bum. I'm more glad he wasn't hurt. Final thing was play calling, 40 passes versus 15 run attempts is pretty poor. You think we going to out gun Mahomes in the the snow? Against an average Chiefs defense we should have pounded the rock and kept Mahomes on the sideline as long as possible (of course towards the end of the game we were playing catch up so threw more).

To hold the Chiefs to 23 and force 3 FGs in the RZ is pretty good with how banged up our D is.

Also Chris Harris has been exposed. At first I thought it was lack of effort but really he isn't very good against speed receivers which are usually the guys on the outside. Chris is a slot CB not a outside corner, I wonder how that is going to effect his upcoming FA?

  88. My take is we aren't as bad as we looked. Hard to want to play in that when it doesn't matter. Next year! Taking Flacco's $ and putting it toward the DL sounds good to me. We probably lose Wolfe and IMO still need a NT. Draft some LBs. A healthy James will help at RT. Harris is a slot CB and so are the guys we signed last year in FA. Not sure where that goes. We are not as far off of KC as I would've thought before this game.

  89. Jackson got suspended two games for drunk driving. Going to hurt our hurting defense a little more.

  90. Von was the only bronco to make pro bowl.

    ReplyDelete
  91. How can we lose to Detroit? Jackson out might help. I doubt it. I would guess the disgrace of only Von being in the Pro Bowl will spark a win this week.

    1. Should be fairly easy. No defensive line, poor offensive line, rookie QB who the league is figuring out, third string linebackers and corners. It could happen...

For the first time ever, I have given up on the Broncos for the rest of the year. Let the rookies and non starters play and see what we have for next year.

      Come on draft!!

  92. Shaq Barrett named to pro bowl with 16.5 sacks for the Bucs... seems like we should have kept him and used the 2018 #5 overall Chubb pick on someone else - DUH, do ya think? Oh well, we saved some money and gained a little youth but I wouldn't use this model as a successful way to build our team... but then who'd have known Barrett would have a 16.5 sack season in him?

  93. Good solid win beating a bad team. I like how Lock spreads the ball around he had a solid outing.

  94. I’ll have to admit that when the score hit 10-0 Detroit I turned it off and spent the afternoon with the grandkids. I was relieved to see we came back and won.

Looking at the stats, it looks like our offense was pretty well balanced this game and Lock stayed on his feet and was only hit once. We did give up 17 points to Detroit though. Given out injuries we probably played as well as we could today.

  95. Last game for the year, let’s spank the raiders!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Did that the hard way. But a good way to end the year 4-1. Bright future, let’s build around that.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Always great to beat the Raiders, no matter the situation. It only cost us 5-7 spots in the draft, but we beat them.

Lock and the rest of the youngsters got more experience which IS something to build on.

  98. Funny thing is, the off season seems more promising than it has in a few years. We have a lot of positives for once.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes we do have some positives to look forward to. I would be great if our nasty injury bug moved on to KC and some of our players who have barely seen the field in the last 2-3 seasons could either heal and contribute or shipped off to nursing homes.

  99. Elway needs the draft of his life if we hope to get back to respectability. A LOT of holes to plug and a lot of our mainstays will be free agents.

I'm hoping Fangio gets some say in the draft this year.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I have no clue as to how Fangio is at drafting, I've never heard of him excelling or sucking at it but this will be his first draft as a HC - so I'm hoping that he is some kind of draft savant. I will say that if you look at our last 2 drafts, we have a lot of upside - and that was obviously before Fangio.

Drafts; 2019 = Noah Fant, Dalton Risner, Drew Lock, Dre’Mont Jones, Justin Hollins, Juwann Winfree.
2018 = Bradley Chubb, Courtland Sutton, Royce Freeman, Isaac Yiadom,  Josey Jewell, DeaSean Hamilton, Sam Jones, Keishawn Bierria and David Williams. Philip Lindsey was a UDFA but definitely worth mentioning along with some others that haven't seen the field yet - so who knows who may yet pan out. All in all, the last 2 drafts have been looking good. If they all gel together and Lock keeps improving, we could have the makings of a playoff caliber team for years to come... oh no I didn't say that!

    1. Fangio was with us for the last draft so this will be his second, but not sure how much input he had in his first draft.

    2. Of course, I don't know what my brain was thinking but obviously it wasn't. LOL! Just another senior moment I guess ;)...

  101. The first obvious question is which free agents do we pay

    ReplyDelete
  102. You would think the biggest question mark would be Chris Harris, but I think it is Shelby Harris.

An obvious answer in my eyes is pay Simmons whatever he needs to keep playing at the level he's at.

    1. I’d like to have them all back, Simmons will get tagged if he doesn’t extend. I’d like to get Wolfe and Shelby back.

I’d like to get Chris too but he can’t keep playing outside.

    1. Flacco will be a free agent right after we cut him this spring!

    2. I think they will ask him to take a pay cut and be the back up. If he doesn’t want that then he will be cut.

  105. I don't think Flacco will be back in 2020, too much money. He may renegotiate for less but if he does, IMO it will be to make him more attractive trade bait. IMO, I think the Broncos want to get even younger and are confident going with Allen and Rypien as QB2&3. I just don't believe the FO was happy with Flacco's play, leadership or his mentoring (or lack of) - he just brings nothing to the table... which is why he was benched. Ya, I know, he had a boo-boo neck officially but let's be real, if his neck injury wan't real, they'd pay someone to make it real if you get what I mean LOL!

In other news, the Broncos now know who their opponents will be in 2020 and whether they will be home or away... check out this link to see who; https://broncoswire.usatoday.com/gallery/denver-broncos-news-2020-opponents-announced-nfl-schedule-next-season/
Funny, but as I looked at it, NONE of the teams seemed scary or unbeatable... I must be getting hope/confidence back!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Yeah, its been a long time. A lot has changed since I was here last. I went from 1 kid to three. New career. But my loyalty to the Broncos will always be there. Just got a new Throwback Steve Atwater jersey. I am hoping him and Lynch get in this year. Pumped they are finalist. Atwater should have been in there a loong time ago.
