Draft Day is Finally Here

176 comments:

  1. So my take on Elway’s comment about not having time to respond may have just been that with the draft being just a day or two away, he is elbow deep in preparation for that. At that point, they should probably be ready, but then again, ai have never been in that position, so I am certain there is a hell of a lot going on and likely takes right up until the damn draft until you are fully situated.

And then someone drops a bombshell in the top 5 picks or so and throws everything out the window.

He will likely address the situation after the draft, if they intend to do so. I think they should sign him to a new deal. He gave us a discount on his first new contract, so we should pay the man for what is likely to be his last big contract. He has earned it and is one of the best cover corners in the league year after year.

  2. The more I read, the more I think we pass on QB’s yet again this year. Elway is already talking about next year’s class of QB’s. Could be smoke screen, could be true, could be false, could be all of the above. I have absolutely no idea which way we go. If we don’t draft a QB, we will need to add another free agent bum, as I don’t see Flacco playing all season after having a bum hip and playing behind a weaker line. Kevin Hogan isn’t going to cut it as our main backup. So we will have to do something at QB regardless.

We need offensive linemen. A guard or two and a center. For this reason, I can see us trading back some in the first round to get some more picks to be able to move up from our second round spot to get the top center on the board.

We need LB’s. We lost two or three. So we need to replace them and Davis is not a suitable full time replacement.

We need a safety and another CB regardless of what the plan is with Jackson. I don’t see it being wise to rotate him between the two spots during the game or from game to game.

Glad the day is finally here though. I am ready to see what the 2019 chapter of the Denver Broncos will look like. This team was better than its record last year talent wise and improving the coaching staff should be able to add a few wins on top of last year at a minimum. A lot will hinge on QB play though. That will be the key.

  3. Big day! Time to get this thing going.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Been following all the rumors, could be some craziness in this top 10.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Bet we trade down to Skins... HA! Who knows, I wouldn't mind a trade down, we could use more picks if we have our shit together on picks.

    ReplyDelete
  6. So Bosa next? I wonder where Rosen is going.

    ReplyDelete
  7. As expected Bosa, so far draft going to schedule. Jets been trying to trade out, I wonder if they do.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Another expected pick. What will the Raiders do, that is a big question? QB? And trade Carr?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Bucs up... Will they ignore their claim to stick with Winston and go Haskins?

    1. Yup, did you here the crowd like the air went out.

      Delete
    2. A high character guy. Interesting.

I think TB goes White here.

      Delete
    3. Yep, basically was a 'who' moment. Pretty sure they all wanted Allen.

    1. Another expected pick. Raiders only surprise so far.

Giants going QB? Or going to get someone to help Eli?

I'm liking the way this is shaping up for us. A lot of good options still available.

      Delete
    2. I hope not, I'm not a Bush fan.

      Delete
    3. If Haskins is there, I don't know, just 1 year starting makes me nervous. Lock I lost interest in the more vid I watched on him.

      Delete
  12. Well the next 3 don't need QBs so we will have the pick of Haskin and Lock.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Replies
    1. They probably didn't think he'd be there at #7

      Delete
    2. Thought Jax would take a Tackle but Allen is BPA.

      Delete
    3. Agree, good pick for them... I'm feeling a trade down for Denver.

      Delete
  14. #8 and the Kittens take... Hockenson

    ReplyDelete
  15. Replies
    1. Me too, I wanted him off the board so Denver diesn't take him

      Delete
  16. If Ed Oliver is on the board we will take him. But the Bills may like him.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I agree, Buff likes Oliver a lot and he's there, so will Denver take a QB?

    ReplyDelete
  18. I wouldn’t think we would take a TE at 10.

    ReplyDelete
  19. We're next... all our questions answered soon... trade down.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Well we can have either of the QBs.

I reckon we should trade down. Nothing great value here now.

    ReplyDelete
  21. AT #10 THE DENVER BRONCOS DECIDE ON...
    TRADE TO PIT

    ReplyDelete
  22. Traded down! Nice. But 20 is a long way.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. We will take a lower ranked QB at #20 Grier or Finnley

      Delete
    2. Orrrrr - we go lower rd and take my guy Rypien

      Delete
  23. Broncos trade: Pick 10. Steelers trade: Pick 20, 52 and a 2020 third round pick.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Love that, another 2nd tomorrow and a third in 2020. Love it.

      Delete
    2. A 2nd and a 2020 3rd isn't much but it makes me think we go after a QB in 2020 and are stocking trade up ammo now to get our fav in 2020.

      Delete
    3. For 10 spots a 2nd this draft and a 3rd next year is pretty good.

      Delete
    4. Don't get me wrong, we got what we could and it wasn't bad and since nobody at #10 excited us much, we did the right thing... I'm still patting my back for calling the trade down LOL!

      Delete
    5. At this rate one or both the QBs could be available at 20. Fant may still be there too. It was a good move.

      Delete
  24. Replies
    1. Nice. Don't think fins go QB, they going for no 1 next year. That leaves Washington as the last one before us that could go QB.

      Delete
    2. You may be right, I thought MIA may take a QB, but now I'm wondering

      Delete
  25. I think MIa takes Haskins, maybe Lock since the have Oz.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Replies
    1. BPA. See if someone skips Washington for a QB but I doubt it.

      Delete
    2. Good value for Mia.. gets Lock and Haskins closer to us... naw.

      Delete
  27. Elway always trades down. Don’t pat yourself too hard haha

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Nobody else called it...;) and I don't think JE always trades down

      Delete
  28. If its not a QB or Fant, my dark horse would be Dexter Lawrence.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Washington almost has to take a QB

    ReplyDelete
  30. Big question is, if Haskins or Lock is there at 20, will we take them

    ReplyDelete
  31. Guess it would have to be Lock. Haskins went to Skins

    ReplyDelete
  32. Replies
    1. That leaves Lock... I don't like it - too stiff.

      Delete
    2. I like that pick for Washington.

If Lock is at 20 I can see us taking him. I don't see anyone between then and now picking him.

      Delete
    3. Oakland is the only team I could see jumping us to take Lock.

      Delete
  33. Replies
    1. We may have liked Garrett too. There is two O-tackles still available.

      Delete
  34. we are on the clock. if we trade again out of the first round I am breaking my TV

    ReplyDelete
  35. Fant, Lock or Simmons or maybe another trade down.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Replies
    1. Broncos next, do we trade down again?

      Delete
    2. Foat or Lock, maybe Sweat.

Trade down another 5 maybe and take Lock if we really like him.

      Delete
    3. that would mean we trade with Oakland.

      Delete
    4. I meant the mid 20s, not specifically Oakland lol.

      Delete
  37. little disturbing that the pick isnt in. Tells me we are fielding calls

    ReplyDelete
  38. AT #20 THE DENVER BRONCOS TAKE... TE NOAH FANT

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Fant. Nice pick.

Not a huge fan of TE in the first but hey we weak at TE.

      Delete
  39. So we have now drafted Huereman, Butt, Fumagali and now Fant the past four years.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Replies
    1. He is better than the other three but TE isn't a sexy pick. Hopefully this is our Kittle pick.

      Delete
  41. Welp, I guess a TE fills a need but I wouldn't have gone there. PFF has him at #43 on their big board.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The good on him is size and athleticism, the knock on him is bad hands, lots of drops.

      Delete
    2. Lets hope he can be this decades Shannon Sharpe

      Delete
    3. Ya, fingers crossed we didn't screw the pooch on this.

      Delete
  42. Replies
    1. Good value there, Taylor still on the board, my go to Texans next.

      Delete
  43. All WRs, CBs, and RBs still available.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Dolphins have been in talks about Rosen from the Cards

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. They are probably the only spot left for him.

      Delete
    2. New England has been rumored to be interested. But the Cards have no leverage now. They screwed themselves by waiting. They could have unloaded him and gotten something.

      Delete
  45. #23 Hou picks... Howard.

Reach but they needed a tackle.

    ReplyDelete
  46. screwing the pooch would at least get us something

    ReplyDelete
  47. #24 Oak picks... Jacobs.

    Good pick by them.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I want McCoy next if we can get him

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Has to be interior linemen next.

We do have two 2nds so could move back into the first.

      Delete
  49. How many of us had the Broncos taking a TE in the 1st rd?.. Ya, me neither.

    ReplyDelete
  50. i had them taking both Iowa TE’s first round

    ReplyDelete
  51. Washington move up and take Sweat at 26.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Skins having a good draft so far

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Don't have a 2nd now and next year. But I like that they got a QB and Sweat. Good additions.

      Delete
  53. Lock still sitting there undrafted.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I'll be mad if he goes to the Pats.

      Delete
    2. wouldn’t surprise me. I was thinking they would take him.

      Delete
  54. Replies
    1. Raiders picks don't scare me. Solid guys though.

      Delete
  55. Hell maybe the Chargers take him.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Ok so what does us drafting Fant do for the other TE’s? Huereman clearly is staying since we resigned him for two years. What about Butt? Is he done in Denver? Are we keeping him? Fumagali done? We aren’t going to keep four TE’s.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Two more trades. Giants with Seadawgs and Falcons with Rams

    ReplyDelete
  58. See you all tomorrow.

Probably need a new post for tomorrow too.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Round one done. IMO, our best pick was trading down. Getting Fant wasn't sexy but we didn't reach for him... we'll see how the next 2 days go before I can say we did good or bad.

    ReplyDelete
  60. “Pats go Harry” sounds funny.

    ReplyDelete
  61. We have two picks in the next 20. Should be able to get some solid guys here. Could we pick Lock with one of them?

Good thing with him falling out of round 1 is if we do draft him and he does well, we don’t have to worry about the 5th year option.

Not many teams left with QB needs. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Dolphins move up to try and take him and say the hell with Rosen. With them thinking why give up a pick or two on someone else’s garbage when we can take a guy here who many thought would go top 10?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Quick check, between us and our next pick there isn't a QB needy team so we could still get Lock if we like him. Bengals really the only team that could jump up.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Also looks like Hill in Kanas is done.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Brad, I don't understand your comment about not worrying about the 5th year option if Lock does well. You would want the 5th year option, which gives you another year before a huge second contract.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I was disappointed yesterday. Let's see what they do with the extra 2nd today before judging the trade down. There were lots of strong choices there at 10.

Digger probably had wet dreams with the trade down.

    ReplyDelete
  66. For some strange reason, I'm pretty ambivalent about yesterday's draft. There was great talent available there the would have been nice to have. We have so many holes to fill that getting an extra couple of picks fairly high in the draft is also good. Only time will tell if this works out.
