Digger, here's the video on that post you provided, it's eye opening. We can use this for the Raiders game blog as well.

  1. If we're going to point fingers at the top, then let's go to the real top, Joe Ellis who has had his fingers in every bad move from firing Shanny and replacing him with McDouche, to hiring VJina and nixing the firing of VJ last year. Elway's boss is Joe Ellis and he's done a lot of harm over the years to the Broncos. I didn't like him from the past and now his fighting with the Bowlen family over who runs the team (Ellis does now) shows in how the team is operated. Not saying Ellis is the fall guy and Elway hasn't made mistakes, but ya, Ellis is the top boss and his input or nixing does make him the top guy, he signs the checks for everyone, Elway, coaches, players, family and vendors included. But ya never hear a word about him unless he's saying thanks for a SB win.

  2. Thanks 1st.
IDK where to point fingers. I sure hope it gets worked out soon.

    1. I know, that bit about signing Shanny and him bringing in Cousins at a discounted price at the end of 2017 sure made me steam that we're watching Vjina, Muskgrave, Keenum and Woods skidding to our first back-to-back losing seasons since 1972.

  3. Crazy interesting. If it's all true, Ellis needs to kick rocks down the road as soon as possible.

    1. I've never liked Ellis and I lay blame on him for the 2 worst ever coaches hired by the Broncos... and a lot of the ensuing damage done to the team by them.

  4. It could be all just made up by the Bowlin that is suing them as a way to get Ellis out.

  5. Well, everyone knows that I think the organization is in turmoil and has been for a few years.

As with any big organization, leadership, values, culture any many other organizational traits start at the top. That is why Pat Bowlen was one of the greatest owners ever, and he is so missed.

So, if the reports in the video are true, then Ellis made a huge mistake. Maybe some of my opinions on Elway regarding the coach and QB are misdirected. If the report is true.

I guess I would ask, and we probably will never know, but wasn't it Elway that was so high on VJ at the beginning? And wasn't Elway the GM that gave Case a pretty good 2 year deal?

I know Elway is everyones hero (mine too). But I seldom ever see a criticism of him on here.

Bottom line, the franchise is in turmoil. The first fix needs to happen with ownership. Something has too happen soon. Someone needs to have majority ownership and final say.

Then the GM and talent evaluation process needs to be evaluated and problems identified and fixed. 2018 draft was great. We must stay at that level or at least close to it. We cannot have all of the pathetic drafts that we have had. I disagree 100% with anyone who says our drafts have been above average. We have gone thru the draft year by year on here and the results are not pretty.

Its not like we can wait until after ownership and GM (and scouting) issues are resolved. We also need to make decisions on HC and QB.

I don't have strong opinions on firing VJ or not. I believe that he will probably be fired at seasons end. Again, when the GM or President, makes a decision to hire a young coach with no head coaching experience and 1 year of disappointing coordinator experience, you are going to have growing pains. If you fire him and get some one better, fine.

QB, I don't see any path where Keenum would not be QB again in 2019, barring injury. Hope I'm wrong.

  6. If I were one of the Bowlen kids who was in line to run, own, inherit, whatever, I think I'd be raising some stink about how the team is being run. It would be hard to watch the team's value plummet after two bad years and no good years in the foreseeable future.

When one of the kids does make what ever cut Ellis and the crew deem necessary and takes over the team for good, I'll guess there is going to be a massive house cleaning and anyone currently involved with Ellis running the team will be gone. They'll probably even remodel Dove Valley to get rid of any evidence of Ellis and Company even being there.

I hadn't really thought of that angle until I listened to the post, but Ellis and crew has no incentive to turn over the team to the Bowlen kids, He would loose his gravy train and be out on his rear.

However it happens, it sure seems like now is the time to make it happen.

  7. Haha. Gordon get suspended again and DGB runs from cops with a pound of marijuana on him and 7 more pounds at his residence. Why do we like to pay so much to watch these people play?

    1. It is. One says the trust not doing their job the other says it is.

      Crazy.

Seems like stalling till Brittany is ready. But if they hand over to Brittany does that mean more legal action from the others.

  10. Okay, if you want the nitty gritty on the Bowlen saga, read the official court petition filed by Bill Bowlen (Pat's brother) asking the courts to remove Ellis, Slivka and Kelly (among others) as the acting trustees of the Pat Bowlen Trust (Broncos ownership). It is very telling and exposes all the backroom (stabbings) dealings leading up to this point. After reading it, I had to take a shower, I felt slimy. It does prove one thing, Ellis (major) and Slivka (lessor) have gained all operational power of ownership and that Elway (though not mentioned) must have had a difficult time running the team and IMO, did a outstanding job considering the circumstances of the numerous people he was under as far as major team operational decisions are concerned. As a side bit of info, it states that Annabel (Pat's wife) also suffers from Alzheimers Disease and that his daughter Beth who is seeking ownership control, apparently is an idiot, unqualified to run the team according to Ellis and Slivka. Hmmm, yes, there is more than ample material here for another Dove Valley Daze* (*formerly "Days"). Read the petition, it will help you to understand if and when another Dove Valley Daze appears! Oh and, of minor importance, the future of our BRONCOS!

    1. What a mess. A lot of family drama to sort through before they can even get rid of the Pat Bowlen Trust. Bill Bolen used to own part of the Broncos and sold out to Pat. So did a few other siblings of Pat. Pat was married and divorced from someone else before Annabelle. Beth and another daughter came from that first marriage. Then Brittany and about three other Bowlens were kids of Pat and Annabelle. The Pat Bowlen Trust is invested into way more than just the Broncos, including the stadium. Sounds like they are way more than just employees. I don't know how it will get resolved before the next season. Even if Pat would pass away I'm assuming it would go to Annabelle and she is incapacitated also.

      Delete
    2. Nope, in the petition filed it states that Pat clearly stated several times that under no circumstances was Annabel to receive ownership, control or involved in the operation of the team in any way... he definitely did not want her to have any stake or voice in it.

      Delete
    3. Here's the specific reading;

      23. Patrick D. Bowlen also repeatedly expressed to Petitioner that Annabel Bowlen should have absolutely no role in the management or operations of the Team. Patrick D. Bowlen expressed the same statement to his closest advisors, expressing concerns about her management and leadership abilities

  11. I Googled Brittany Bowlen. She's 28 and graduated from Notre Dame. The Pat Bowlen trust feels she needs to have business experience before she is ready to take over majority ownership. She is about three months into a job that will accomplish that. Beth has no chance to become majority owner although she has said she wants to.

    1. Yeah it was an interesting story. Couple things I still got questions about. Obviously the trustees want Brittany Bowlen to take over. Beth Bowlen seems to have put in all the work to acquire majority ownership. However, she is getting blackballed because she is not Annabelle's daughter. My question is this, was Pat married 2 his first wife when he became owner of the Broncos? Second question is, since one of Pat's brothers still has 24% ownership of the Broncos, why is he not saying anyting?

      Delete
    2. No, Pat wasn't married to Sally Parker (1st wife) when he bought the Broncos in 1984;

"Joan Annabel Bowlen née Spencer is a former teacher and figure skater who is married to the majority owner of Denver Broncos of the National Football League, Patrick Dennis “Pat” Bowlen. They met in Edmonton in Canada, and after a short courtship, married. Soon, they relocated to Denver, Colorado, where Pat bought the town’s NFL team. It catapulted the social status of the family, making them part of the city’s elites."

So he married Annabel in Canada, they moved to Denver and then Pat bought the Broncos.

And no, Pat's brother John no longer owns a share of the Broncos... Pat bought him, Bill and his sister out. See the link.

    4. Yes, Beth has met most of the criteria except for the 5 years of meaningful work within the Broncos or the NFL. Evidently, Ellis doesn't think she has leadership qualities based on some limited time working in minor roles within the Broncos organization. The exact reason isn't known but Ellis (pres) and Slivka (vice pres) denied Beth's request to be hired in a prominent role... maybe she is lousy stupid or Ellis & co want to keep themselves in control of the team? I never trusted Ellis since he talked Pat into firing Shanny and hiring McDope. At that time, Pat was already affected by Alzhiemer's - to the point that when they needed Pat's signature, a whiteboard with a large Pat signature had to be placed where Pat could see how he signed his own name - to insure there was no discrepancy from his past signatures. If you ask me, Ellis and Slivka want control (they now have) and possibly ownership of the team. The trust gives the trustees not only the power to name the successor, but also to amend the trust itself - meaning he, Slivka and Kelly (3rd trustee and Pat's attorney) can change the trust, declare all Pat's kids ineligible and sell the team (to themselves?) with the compensation going to the kids (split 7 ways). Elway could also be involved in the purchase along with Ellis and Slivka (the 3 have or could borrow what's needed). Remember, Pat offered Elway 10% interest in the Broncos and Bowlen/Elway were partners in owning the Denver Crush. Brittany Bowlen is currently favored by the trustees but she is only 28 and has 12 more years before turning 40 to meet trust criteria (that could explain why Ellis favors her). John Bowlen Jr is disqualified because of his 2 arrests and Pat Bowlen III is the youngest of Pat's kids. The others, (minus Beth-Amie) have no interest in running the team but they do still want the $$$. One other concern, the NFL and 31 other team owners CAN have a say in what happens along with the courts of course. This will certainly drag out for a long time but with the NFL getting involved probably wanting to resolve it ASAP, it may force a faster showdown/resolution. Right now, I'd favor a 3-way equal partnership with Elway, Ellis and Slivka. That way JE is on equal footing with Ellis and IMO, that would be the best option for the Broncos since who knows what we'd get from any of the girls owning the team.

  14. We have a hell of a mess on our hands with the ownership I have read a lot of it, but honestly don’t know if what we are reading is legit or total BS. Could be a combination of both.

Ellis seems like a squirly little shit, and should be gone. I haven’t liked him for a long time. I do think it was time for Shanny to go when Bowlen fired him. He had run his course with th le team at that point. He was too consumed with his GM duties and both that and the product on the field both suffered.

Not sure who OBF is suggesting we have had good drafts. I know I commented that we have had a few solid ones that have carried us to remain relevent and competitive, but gor the most part they have been bad. So bad to the point that we have jettisoned the bulk of the class withinntwo years of drafting them.

    1. I agree that we missed on too many draft picks in some years but we have made up a lot of it by signing UFAs as well as FAs... basically saving us from being terrible.

  16. Looks like Ray and Cravens are inactive again today. Doesn’t make a whole hell of a lot of sense to me. Ray, maybe. Cravens, no idea. When your secondary is as banged up as ours you would think you would want as many DB’s active as possible.

  18. A random thought ran through my head and keeps rattling around. All rookie coaches get fired and then get second and third chances. Some learn and get better and eventually gain enough experience to become a good or great coach and some never get another shot (McDufuss). I find myself wondering which way VJ will go. Right now, the evidence seems to point more towards the McDuffuss route than the Bellicheat route, but I really don’t want another rookie coach next year.

So the question that keeps running in my head is would we be better off with another rookie coach or with VJ? Or, of the available coaches out there, is there a big enough difference between the available fired coaches and our should be fired coach to go through another scheme change and the reboot that always causes?

  53. Yep. Looks like we’re starting from scratch again. Time to resolve the ownership conflict and clean house from top to bottom. If Elway stays, great, but MAJOR changes are needed and they are needed right now. Any chance of trading Miller for a real QB? Seriously, blow the whole thing up.

    1. I wouldn’t change much on defensive personnel exept maybe Marshall. He has lost a step or two.

If we resign Roby, I hope it’s not at top dollar. He ranked out toward the bottom of all CB’s. Some of that was because of scheme, playing zone all the time, but he also has some serious lapses in coverage. We may be forced to bring him back because Harris will potentially be out for a chunk of the season and Brock is a free agent. That would leave us with just Yadom.

Miller and Chubb would have been more effective but most teams played small ball against us to get the ball out of the QB’s hands quickly, minimizing their impact and our pass rush.

Our defense should still be a top five, maybe top ten, defense if we had the right DC.
