2017 Schedule is Up

201 comments:

  1. Ok guys,

Sorry for the delay. Just been extremely busy with kids activities and corresponding items. My boss has been in the hospital and out recovering pretty much since the middle of January. So even though I'm not in public accounting anymore, I was pretty much still working tax season hours.

The 2017 schedules are up, and I have noted where games are prime time games. They either say Mon, Thurs or Night. Thought that might give a reminder that its a night game coming up.

Looking forward to seeing what this team can do. I think our defense is going to be better than last year. Especially our D line.

Hopefully our Oline will be much improved, which will only help our offense.

    1. I think so too. On the D being better that is. The STs should be better too. Offense remains to be seen. How can they be much worse though? 😀

  5. Can't believe its almost training camp time. I love it. I hate when football season is done. It takes too damn long to come back too.

I am very eager to see this team in action, especially the offense. I want to see how well the offensive line is coming together. I also get the impression our offense will be much more aggressive than in previous years.

    1. I'm not as confident as you, 1st. New rookie coach and new offense, we've improved in some areas, but some of our division rivals have also improved a great deal. I think it will take a while for our new offense to click, and I think we will be out coached a few times. I'm not good enough to predict scores!

BUT! I sure hope I'm wrong and you all can laugh at me at the end of the season!

    2. You may be right, who knows. I think we'll win against Indy and split with Oak, otherwise the rest are whoever gets the breaks. Ya, I'm a Bronco homer but I think we could easily go 12-4 LOL!

    3. Well San Diego doesn't have a team anymore. Unless we are going to play football against the San Diego Footy McFooty Face.

    4. Funny you bring up McFooty... just yesterday I was watching some Bronco vids on YouTube when the McDump presser after announcing the Cutler trade came up. Man, watching that arrogant prick talk brought back some bad memories. Made me appreciate how far Elway has turned the franchise around. John's up for a contract renew and speculation is he wants a stake in partial ownership of the Broncos. I hope he gets it, someone needs to slap Joe Ellis around for hiring McDisaster.

    5. Haha. Sad days. So glad it turned back around so quickly.

  12. I'll play. I personally feel our D and STs are going to be just short of best ever range this year, so my predictions are a bit biased.

  14. So, this guy has got to be on his last leg. I would dare say he is on the roster bubble.

Cody Latimer - WR - Broncos-
was seen being pepper-sprayed after slapping a bouncer at a strip club in Dayton, Ohio in a video obtained by TMZ.

The incident occurred in February and Latimer has already acknowledged that it was indeed him in the video. Charges were not filed and the police are not investigating the incident. Latimer has had a slew of off-field incidents including an arrest for failing to appear in court following a traffic violation. He also called the cops on his girlfriend for assaulting him last year and later paid her bail. The 24-year-old has been a major bust, hauling in just 16 catches since arriving as a second-round pick in 2014.

I did however also read that he has since been baptism into a Colorado church, so maybe he has finally made a change in his life for the better. IDK if that will change his game for the better though.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I was surprised he made it through the roster cuts last year. Hope he really has turned his life around because he is real close to start living a no-football life.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Looks like Elway is on the verge of signing a big deal to keep him in Denver. They would be crazy not to renew his deal, with two SB appearances with one victory, five division titles, five playoff appearances and no losing seasons in six years.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Atwater is joining the team as fan ambassador. Not really sure what that means, but he's back.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Fixed the schedule. Must have missed deleting the Oct 30 game against SD.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I was surprised too that Lattimer made the roster last year. I would expect that with the guys we drafted and picked up, he has seen his last action in a Broncos uniform. It is unfortunate that he hasn't made any improvement in several seasons. Clearly he doesn't have the drive or the ability to improve.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I can see us losing one or both of the Oakland games before losing to Philly. I know it is in Philly, but they really aren't very good.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I had us losing, not because Philly is good, but because we come off night game with KC, travel to east coast and looking forward to NE.

      Delete
  21. I forsee Elway having major ownership control of this team in the not so distant future. The Bowlen family isn't capable of running it without Pat, and if you are going to sell it to someone, who better than John? I honestly beieve that is one reason why he sold his dealerships a number of years ago. Maybe I am wrong. I know he got a premium from Wayne H, but I think he may have been positioning himself for that. He had a chance to liquidate that, which may not have been able to do down the road.

    ReplyDelete
  22. If TS is healthy and can play like he did in the first four weeks last year, I see him winning the job, assuming Lynch doesn't completely blow him away.

Hopefully our Oline is vastly improved and whoever is back there isn't constantly running for his life.

  23. Sept 11 - Los Angeles (MON) = W

    ReplyDelete
  26. I agree, I think our offense will be better this year. But I worry about McCoy being too conservative like he was when he was here before.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I have to wonder how much of McCoy's conservative calling was Fox whispering (or yelling) in his ear. It will be interesting to see what impact having been a head coach now will have on his play calling.

  28. Football news and stuff!!! Yay!!!! Elway got PAID.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Replies
    1. He is reportedly the highest paid GM, which prior to Seattle's GM, the highest paid was Ozzie Newsome with Baltimore at $3.75 million annually. Not sure what seattle's GM got, but I expect Elway's deal to be upwards of $5 million a year. Seems low for the top guy, especially considering top coaches get more than that.

  30. Didn't McCoy coordinate the record setting offense?

I know he also did the Tebow O but he has shown some range as far as aggressiveness.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No that was Adam Gase.

All he did was take plays from Florida's playbook. It worked at first and then he went back to being very predictable and trying to make Tebow a pocket passer and our offense stalled again. I really don't give him much credit for the Tebow season.

I wonder if he will help mentor Joseph a little bit this season as he takes the reins of the team.

      Delete
  36. Local news here in Dallas are all over the Cowboys for cutting that guy yesterday who was accused of shoplifting. Turns out it was a case of mis-identity and the cops weren't even looking for him! Cowboys official response was that it was time for him to move on and he'll have a better chance starting over with a different team.

  37. Broncos sent a late round conditional pick in the 2019 draft to the Eagles for OL Allen Barbre.

Eagles were going to release him. Guess we thought he would provide some depth and challenge Garcia. Maybe that means one of the existing guys may be on the chopping block.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I like it, seems he had a pretty good year last year for the Eagles but is old.

At least he is cheap, can push Garica.

      Delete
    2. Yeah, not a bad move. Adds some much needed depth and didn't give up much. If he doesn't start, it is a lot to pay though. Think he was due about $2 million. I'm sure if we cut him before the season the pick reverts back to us, like with Sanchez.

If he pans out and beats out Garcia, then its a great move.

      Delete
    3. Word was Leary moved to RG because Garcia couldn't. I think we want Leary at LG. It would help out whoever wins the LT job. Barbre may be a better RG option.

  38. Elway said Heuerman needs to step up this year and show something. If he doesn't he will probably be cut. He has 9 catches in two seasons. Granted he missed his entire first season, and was hurt to start last year, he needs to do something now. With an offense that features the TE, this is his golden opportunity.

  44. I went to practice on Friday, which was the second practice. My exciting observations follow:

Like everyone else, I wanted to see the QBs, but I came away disappointed in both. Siemian looked a little better, because he makes quicker reads, but checked down on way to many plays. He over threw a long ball to Emmaunuel that was picked off be Roby.

Last year when i watched Lynch he was thoroughly confused and as he received constant coaching, his body language showed that he was very down on himself. This year he does not do this, but he is way way to slow on making a decision and throwing the ball.

Tough choice as neither QB was impressive on day 2.

Of course Von Miller is the leader high fiving his teammates and interacting with the crowd. He just has fun.

For the first time, I saw DT interacting with the fans. During 7 on 7 DT got into it with TJ and did not back down. The very next play DT caught the ball and after the play was over, he threw it and hit TJ in the back, which caused the pushing and shoving to start again. Good to see from DT. Someone needs to step up and give this offense some attitude.

These new draft choices at RB and WR sure are quick and fast. Hopefully they make major contributions.

Zaire Anderson was all over the field.

They were not yet in pads so hard to evaluate blocking and tackling.

During offense versus defense, Lynch would stand be himself watching when not on the field, while Siemian would stand with DT.

I love when the WR's do the drills where they can only catch it with one hand. Shows what amazing athletes they are.

Hope to get back once or twice more.

    Replies
    1. Thanks, OBF!! I especially like the takes on the QBs demeanor on the sideline. I suspected that Siemian would be the players choice and it doesn't sound like Lynch is trying too hard to change that perception if he is off by himself like our boy Cutler used to do.

    2. Its interesting as all the media is selling Lynch as having the better practices. Is this the broncos controlling the message and trying to feed us Lynch?

  50. Yeah it is a tough blow but that stuff happens. Glad it is a division foe.

Looks like Tannehil is out for the season possibly. Cutler has come out and said publicly he would play for the dolphins.

  51. I went to practice again today. It was the 4th straight day of practicing in pads. More then Kubiak or Fox did, I think. I always like practices in pads as long as no one gets hurt. Lots of hitting today.

First the positive things that I saw:

The offensive line is much more feisty than before. I watched one on one drills between a single OL man and a single DL man. Great battles, except for Ty Sambrillo who got beat by everyone. I don't think he will make the team. I know Digger hates it when I use the word "bust", so nevermind. I'm convinced this OL will be much improved over last year.

Deangelo Henderson looks like a steal for a 6th round pick. Hits the hole fast and has some power and speed.

Carlos Henderson blew by some 3rd string DB for a long touchdown catch.

Isaiah McKenzie looked really explosive in punt returns.

The draft picks are exciting this year especially Garret Bolles.

I saw Jamall Charles make a nice catch down the sideline and he looked explosive. His reps are very limited.

Brandon Marshall is hitting everyone in sight, maybe a little too vigorously.

Even Gottsis looked decent in one on ones.

The top 7 defensive backs are special and it is a treat to watch them practice.

Now the bad news. Neither QB looked very good. Lynch is still way slow on making decisions and I don't know what is wrong with Trevor. He looked better last year. Trevor did have a spark late in practice where he hit 6 straight passes in 11 on 11.

I have watched many QB combinations over the years in practice including Cutler and Plummer, Orton Quinn and Tebow, Manning and Oz, Siemian, Sanchez and Lynch, and the current QB's look worse in practice than the previous combos.

One of these guys needs to step it up. Hopefully that will happen in the preseason games. Maybe it will help to go against someone other than the no fly zone.

Hopefully I will make it to one more practice. Big crowds this year as always.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Thanks again, OBF! Doesn't seem like Joseph is real happy with the QBs either. Sounds like we may be in for another year of rookie QB play.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Very nice. I was going to stick up for the QBs by saying our D is to good, but you mentioned it yourself.
I don't always hate the bust word. I agree Sambrillo seems like a bust. I read only 3 are practicing at LT. Bolles should start and if Ty is cut, that means Stevenson is the backup. How did he look this year? Better than last year?

    ReplyDelete

  61. The Broncos need leaders and contributors on special teams. Both of their 2016 captains, Dekoda Watson and Kayvon Webster, left in free agency. Latimer and Fowler are potential solutions.

"That's a huge deal to have two receivers, with Latimer and Fowler, as dominant special-teams players," Joseph said. "That's rare."

Latimer's career has been frustrating to this point. Although he has been a solid special teamer, he has just 16 career receptions -- far below the total that would have been expected for a second-round pick after three seasons. The development of Fowler and Jordan Taylor and the draft additions of rookies Isaiah McKenzie and Carlos Henderson only exacerbated the challenge Latimer faced going into this camp.

So far, Latimer has "responded positively. He's worked hard as a gunner first of all," Joseph said. "He can be an All-Pro gunner. He's so big and fast. "As a third receiver, he's competing."

    1. How many WRs do we usually carry on the roster? I count 7 that should make the team and I don’t think we carry that many.

      Delete
    2. 5-6 tops I believe. One of the guys who has been on the team for a few seasons is likely not going to be here, unless we part ways with this year's picks instead, which I don't see happening. I think Lattimer may be gone despite his ST's experience. He isn't that critical on ST's to warrant 2nd round money over one of the new guys. I know we need leaders, but we could bring in a cheaper vet for that.

    3. OK, we know DT and ES are locks.I would say the two rookies are locks. McKenzie is our PR for sure and Henderson was a high enough pick to be on the roster even if he doesn't start in the slot this year as our new #3. The other 3 I presumed as should make the team is Fowler, Latimer and Taylor. Since you said 6 at most, one of those 3 are out. My guess is we try to put Taylor on the PS if all the WRs stay healthy.

    4. Taylor is having a quiet camp and isn't that good on ST. So he is the odd one out.

Another reason Latimer makes the team as Webster was a gunner, ST captain for us.

  89. I'm liking our rookies. Hopefully they can push for starting spots and more playing time.

It was a so so game. No QB for us really stood out as both didn't do a whole lot.

First string OL looks better, Garia is a weak spot, he will be beat out, I like Turner.

Mitch had a good game but we did nothing on defense. Man coverage, cover-1 every play. Our 2nd-3rd stringers couldn't hang with the Bears.

I thought Griese on commendatory was pretty good.

D will have to carry us again this year.

  90. Winn done for the year. We were already a little thin at NT, at least in my opinion, so that hurts. Wonder if Fats Willfork would delay retirement to be a backup NT?? Not saying we're desperate, but we'lll likely need to add someone ahead of the rookie.

  101. Lynch looked blah, 9/13 for 39yds... and thats with 3 TOs by our D! He got almost 2 full qtrs and spent most of it looking at his 1st read then taking off. Lots of grass on his uni, not a way for a QB to make a career in the NFL.

On the other hand, Trevor came out, looked sharp, had 1 TD called back by a hold on Bolles then turned around and threw another TD to Taylor I think - could be wrong on that. Nice series though, TS looked spot on and much smoother, in charge than Lynch. It's the end of the 1st half and Denver leads 20-0. Looking much better than last week but still a lot of penalties.

    1. Trevor's final numbers; 8-of-11, 93 yards (8.5 avg.), 1 TD, 0 INT, 128.2 rating. His numbers for the 2 preseason games; 14/18, 144yds, 77.8% comp, 80./att, 118.5 rating. Those calling him "average" (not around here) are IMO, dead between the ears.

  103. I watched the first half and then fell asleep during halftime. Woke up after it ended. Lynch didn't suck, but Trevor looked real sharp at the end of the half. Henderson and Ridley both looked better than CJ, I thought. But, both played against SF second team so who knows. Even with that, still looks like our run game isn't quite there yet. Bolles looked like he still has a lot to learn, but played ok. A few too many times he was beaten with the inside speed rush so he had to hold to protect the QB. Huermann also made an appearance with a catch. D line gave up a few longish runs, but all in all looked better against the SF 1's than i expected them too. A LOT of beef in that group!

    1. The 2nd half was hard to stay awake for. I watched on the net and the SF booth kept trotting out an endless stream of ex-players and brass during the play (for interviews) which was VERY distracting for Bronco viewers. I guess it was more exciting for their fans than watching their team get systematically dismantled by the Broncos.

Siemian has won the job and if it isn't made official real soon, then the gig is rigged!

  104. Should have looked at the game stats and coverage before I posted that! D line did way more than ok. 25 yards rushing allowed in the first have is much more than ok. That's down right encouraging!

    1. McKenzie had a poor night... IMO, Kalif Raymond is better on returns.

  105. I have pretty much the same views. TS should get the starting nod soon. Lynch don't have it. His best plays are his runs. That won't win the QB battle. DT just had to laugh off how bad Lynch missed him (twice). DL didn't look so great, Hyde is just that bad. CJ sucks too though. I love Henderson! He won't ever pass all the RBs in front of him though for stating in regular season. McKenzie already won the job they said. Seems like the game day effort isn't there now. Hopefully Raymond can be on the PS without getting nabbed. SF is not a good football team. Not much to take out of this game. I feel sorry for Ridley. He has been our workhorse in preseason and I just don't think there will be room. Unless it's Charles' spot. I have no idea if he makes it back and on the roster or not.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Sieman is just further along than Lynch. Neither knocked my socks off but Sieman is better for now as the starter. In this scenario I think Lynch plays after the bye week. As we flip flop between the two for the year.

RBs are interesting, got to remember Booker is still available but injured. Henderson has been the best of the group. Charles and Ridley fighting for that last spot. Charles needs a hell of a game next week to get the position.

I don't have an answer at WR.

I liked what Gotsis has been doing. Collapsing pockets while being double teamed is good. He has improved over last year and is way bigger.

    STs are still meh.

    1. Heard gotsis has been hitting the weights big time during the offseason. Should serve him well as far as seeing the field.

  107. I think TS has clearly won the job unless Lynch comes
    Out and tears it up.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Honestly, if the oline plays solid and TS isn't scrambling for his life, he will be serviceable.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Totally agree, he can get the job done but he isn't the best.

We have been waiting for Lynch to come out and tear it up and he just hasn't, till that time he must sit.

      Delete
    2. If you guys are waiting for Lynch to show up, good luck. He isn't very good now and I'm beginning to doubt he ever will be. He's an Osweiler version of Tebow who also could run and had a big arm... problem is he doesn't have a guidance system to aim the dam thing. Even if he gets the accuracy down more, he doesn't know where to throw it. I really don't see what his fans see in him. I had hopes that he'd make some strides this year but it isn't happening. I would love to be proven wrong. I would love to see him blossom into another Elway or Manning but if he's going to turn the corner, he'd better do it soon because right now, Slother is playing better than he is and with Kelly looking to join the fray in 2018, it isn't gonna get any easier.

      Delete
  109. In Siemian we trust! Pretty obvious conclusion after the 49er game, if it wasn't before.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Well, when talking QBs, OBF has me pegged right, I hate the term, "bust". I feel Lynch is still kind of a rookie because of the coaching and terminology change. Not an excuse, just a fact. Here is my issue, I don't think he's very smart. I don't like that.
Siemian is the best bet this year, but more proof that the offense has not gained anything this offseason. Relying on the D to save our asses again this year has me a little depressed and feeling like I was way to optimistic with my early prediction of wins and losses. Our games are going be close every week and will be won or lost on whether or not we get a defensive or STs score.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Coach named Siemian starter. Hopefully he can improve and keep us moving or it will be on the D like Digger said.

How about we trade for Tyrod?

    ReplyDelete
  112. Lynch for Tyrod?
I think he had a shit showing too this week.
I'm all for trading Lynch though if you think there are takers

    ReplyDelete
  113. Not a huge fan of Tyrod. He is ok but he cant carry an offense. He crumbles. He is a poor man's cam newton. I wonder if Elway goes after Cousins after this season. Not likely Washinton tags him again

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I agree, Tyrod is in his 7th season and I don't see him as an upgrade over any of the 4 QBs we already have signed. Actually, with our new OL, RBs, scheme and coaches, I'm excited about where we could be by the end of the season. Who knows, we may not be looking for a QB by then and it may be that teams are looking to snag one of our young guys - for fair compensation of course.
