We should start a new thread for the draft. And I agree if we take a tackle and don't trade down I would be disappointed, and for the love of god do not trade up to take a tackle in this class.

Ramczyk might develop into the best of the top 3 at LT, but it's hard to count on him year 1 for any impact since he will be behind the ball with that hip injury at a position that's already hard enough to make an impact on. If we are going to have to wait for a guy to make an impact anyways why not draft a year 1 impact player and then a developmental guy in the subsequent rounds. Just my opinion but I'm not that excited about the guys this year. Except Forest Lamp only if they think he can be a T and not a G then I think he has a high ceiling, but I'm not a Oline expert.

The latest reports are that Ram has been cleared by all physicals taken on his hip, so I wouldn't discount him for that, he should be good to go.

According to most mocks, all 3 of the top OL will be available to choose from at #20. If the Broncos have decided one of those 3 is much better than the other 2, then I say take him at #20 rather than trading down and taking the risk of losing out - possibly on all 3 if a run on OL happens after #20... we'd be left with trying to decide who's best from the bottom of the barrel and that's not a good option.

  2. Afternoon gents. Sorry for being awol so much lately. Work has been pretty busy the past few months with my boss being in the hospital.

I will get the schedules up as soon as i can.

Had to stop in today since it is draft day. Rumors are swirling we are trying to move up. Not sure if that is for a LT or Baby Mac. Sounds like we are pretty high on him. I think we may see Elway wheel and deal to move up for once. I wonder how far we can go up. Wonder if he could somehow swing a deal with the Browns for #1 or #12. They are idiots, so Oat's socks and a bag of cash should be enough to get them to bite. Maybe Haslem would go for a Get out of Jail Free card if his federal investigation is still ongoing.

    1. No possible way to get the #1 pick.

      Even 12 is a stretch.

    2. Hard to believe but maybe I'm wrong, rumors all over that Broncos are trying to get up to the 5th pick. For whom?

      Delete
    3. Here is how costly this move up would be. Maybe other players are involved or maybe some picks from next year, but if you just look are this years 10 Bronco picks and look at the Value Draft Chart, we would have to trade all 10 picks plus some more to be able to trade from 20 to 5.

  3. Can't beieve the idiot Peopers from Michigan failed a drug test. Man some of these guys are dumb as dirt. Why would you even risk it?

  7. Moving up to 5 and getting Solomon Thomas I could understand. No. Not really.

  8. So Browns going to do something smart or stupid?

  15. So far just the Bears with dumb pick. Maybe it will be great pick though. You only give up that much for QB. Anything else is not worth the trade up.

  24. Haha. I think I want Watson now. He's going to have a chip on his shoulder.

    ReplyDelete
  25. So far we're dong pretty shitty on our group mock draft!

    ReplyDelete
  26. 3 WRs and more than likely 3 QBs going before our pick suits me fine.

    ReplyDelete
  27. There could easily be some top level defensive players left for us now. What to do!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah Reddick to Cards. Great pick for them. Houston getting Watson I think is good for them too.

Crazy all the trades for QBs.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Seems a little high for Humphrey.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Why do have a gut feeling we are the team that is OK with Mixon in the 1st round?

  31. How do you take Bolles with Foster still on the board. Yes we need a LT, but geez! I sure hope it works out!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Bolles, not impressed but I think its who we wanted.

Just scared, that he is 20 pounds to light, old and dumb.

  33. I like it, a mean motherfucker who doesn't want to beat the guy across from him, he wants to annihilate him. It also says they FO is all in on our 2 QBs and wants to give them every chance to succeed. Now lets go best player and fill holes if we can.

  36. Not terrible. Just upset because it wasn't one of the players I liked more than him. It could be a very good pick if he starts LT from day 1 and stays fairly healthy for the next 10+ years.

  38. Browns did well getting three picks in the first. 49ers getting Foster is a solid pick for them (even if he is crazy).

    Ramcyzk to Saints solid pick.

    Interesting first day.

    Onto day two.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm fine with the Bolles pick if he can become a solid starter then we did well for ourselves. I obviously love his attitude and that people rave about his athleticism. What I do not like is the age and that his lower body is considered weak. Sound familiar? I believe many people had the same concerns about Sambraillo. It would not surprise me at all if Sambraillo actually becomes the LT this year. They are about the same age, only Sambraillo has had more years experience and familiarity with the team, and has been in a professional weight lifting program for longer than Bolles was playing FBS football. I have real concerns that we just drafted a guy who will only play this year if there is an injury (which is a real concern if Sambraillo is the LT)

There are still plenty of good players left who we can take on offense that will be able to make an impact for us this year so we will see how we approach our next 3 picks on day 2.

Considering the excitement of seeing the Bama big 3 sitting on the board 4 picks before ours in Howard, Allen, and Foster I was on the edge of my seat hoping for one of those guys to fall to us particularly howard and allen but alas it was not to be. I at least am happy we stayed put and didn't trade up to get Bolles, although with no other linemen going until 32 I wonder if we would have been better served trading back in the draft and then taking him as it seems likely he still would have been there.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm ok with the pick, just not doing backflips.

I understand the need and the fact that they had him rated as the best tackle. Just a little concerned that Elway has struck out on all other OL draft picks and free agents. Hope fully, Bolles is an immediate solid contributor.

    We sure need it.

Maybe even more importantly, we need 3 really good picks today. Lots of great players left. Time to stop striking out in 2nd and 3rd rounds.

I would be happy to go get Mixon.

    ReplyDelete
  41. As I commented yesterday, it was just silliness to believe the Broncos could afford to trade up to #5 or #1 (Brad).

    ReplyDelete
  42. I wasn't suggesting we would or should, but with Cleveland, you just never know what they would be willing to give away. They traded for Os and his bloated salary to get a draft pick and planned to cut him.

Hell they may as well see what he can do there. Can't be any worse than what they already have or had last year.

  43. There were rumors we were trying to trade up. I would think that would've been for CMac. Elway has not been as deceptive as we all assume he is. In fact we are pretty much the only team that all the leaks seem to end up true.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Anybody hear rumours of who we targeting with a trade up? Maybe it was Reddick. All my favorites went higher than expected. Engram being gone upsets me. My wish as of now is Zach Cunningham falls to our 2nd pick and Gerald Everett to our first 3rd and a good DE to our 2nd 3rd rounder.

    1. The rumors yesterday that I heard were with Tennessee at 5 and Tennessee at 18.

      Delete
    2. 5 would have been for McCaffery and 18 to ensure we got Bolles

      Delete
    3. I'm very glad neither worked out. Trading up #20 to 5 should only happen for a QB, since it would have to involve future picks. Trading 2 spots for Bolles and passing on Howard would've really pissed fans off. At least only Foster left on the board may have made sense if Foster ends up with bad shoulders and bad discipline.

  45. From the Broncos Wire - Since Elway took over in 2011, there have been 18 – eighteen – different offensive linemen to start for the team. It’s forever been a work in progress

    1. Is that already counting 3 for this year? I think it has to be. Otherwise it would 18÷6 years for an average of 3 per year and, even though I know our turnover is high, I don't think it was ever as bad as this year.

      Delete
    2. I did not verify it, but I don't think it includes this year

      Delete
    3. Also have to take in injuries and benchings during the year. Sounds about right to me. Shows you how bad it has been.

      Delete
    4. True. 3 each year, through all 6 seasons could easy be true.

      Delete
    5. I counted 16 different starters, which did not include any injury starters. I also counted 22 different starters if you count a position change as a different starter.

Here is where I got my info

      Delete
  46. So for sure 21, possibly 22, once this season starts!

    ReplyDelete
  47. They're saying we are looking to trade up in the 2nd. Why? I still think we wanted McCaffrey, so a trade up would probably be for a better RB that can get around the edge. Mixon, Cook are there. I guess trading up for either is OK. I would rather hope Kamara is still there at 51.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I don't mind the bolles pick, we got much better with him. Gone from no LT to having one.

But I question how smart he is, hopefully he can learn a playbook. His interview with sanders was so bad that even media here were making fun of him.

    1. He's dumb as a box of rocks. So what! He's an OL. As long as he doesn't get penalties, I like him. Beats the hell out of Stevenson moving to LT. I think we stay more ZBS than people think though. I like big, dumb and nasty. Go knock someone on their ass Hodor.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Called it we going all need. So we got the wr not the biggest guy but he is super physical. I like it. So what is our next biggest need? RB or ILB?

    ReplyDelete
  56. There is the WR. Some juice for Vance!

    ReplyDelete
  57. There are a lot of TEs still available, but I still think ILB.

    1. I like that pick quite a bit. Our new slot WR.

  59. Got some good OGs still on the board. Some we even talked to. We may not be lookng at Gs now, IDK. I don't like the next ranked ILB. Perine, RB, is good pick. 3 good players from Iowa there too.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Or, we could take a CB. Didn't really see that coming.

    ReplyDelete
  61. CB, we all knew we were getting one at some point. I like this guy, big physical and fast. Good replacement for Webster and can learn from the other guys.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Over drafted like Webster was too. Can't know for sure but I think Tenn stole our pick. Smith was last of the slot TE type.

      Delete
  62. Think we will load up on some tackles tomorrow digger.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Pitt just got the RB I liked.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I actually think we did pretty well day two.

Walker I think fits that Malik Jackson player we are after. Can move inside and rush the passer, solid pick.

The more I read on Henderson the more I like. We have a number 3 receiver that can also kick return. He plays aggressive etc, loving it. Hopefully he can turn into a Steve Smith Jr type player. Latimer probably doesn't make the team.

People will say Langley was over drafted but hey it was a comp pick. We took a big young fast corner still learning the position that has time to learn the position, and he kick returns! Love it, add in that the HC and DC are both DB coaches, they know what they want. So happy.

I think we got better today. OT, DE, WR and CB down. We still have 2OT, RB, TE, QB and ILB on my list previously to get. I'm not sure what going to happen with a NT though.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think we will get a late round or UDFA NT .

      Delete
  65. I agree that we got better today. I would say I'm cautiously optimistic how they turn out. Bolles seems like he was picked a little early for his talent level, but I guess that was pure drafting for need. We need him to at least crack the starting lineup. There sure were better players available when we made that pick.

Oddly, I find myself more excited by Henderson and Langley. WE HAVE A LEGIT KICK RETURNER!!! It's been a few years since we've been able to say that.

    ReplyDelete
  66. CBS after the top 6 or 7 guys get weird with the rankings. They are all over the board. I'm in agreement that some fans will look at the rankings and say WTF is Elway doing? I have faith in the CB pick only because we have a pretty good track record there. It's the OL pick that scares the heck out of me. I also think we need to double down on that one. Davenport is still there and we seemed to like him. Watson is not necessarily a shoe in at RT anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Walker also ranked way below where we took him. That I blame on the fact that what we want in a DE is different than most teams. I like him. Fits a big hole. They all did. I love drafting for need with a smaller board. Most don't.

    ReplyDelete

    1. We are a good football team with only a few holes, get guys that are going to make the team, not struck behind long term starters.

    2. In that thought then, a SS might also be in the cards. It's Ward's last year without an extension.

    3. Should've said barring an extension.

    4. Didn't they re-sign Ward a few months ago? Or was that Stewart I'm thinking of?

  68. We're coming up soon. Anybody here? Still got good value at TE and OG. I love Desmond King from Iowa if he makes it to our pick.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Jake Butt! Huge pick for us. Way better than Kittle and Leggett. TY JE!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Just got back from spending the morning at a grand kids school "thing." So I have some catching up to do.

Happy with Butts but doubt we'll see much from him the first year. Seems like it takes several years for them to develop, if they do (Huermann).

    1. Haha. I think Huey is flirting with looking for a new job. I'm not going to call him a bust and to be honest, I don't even know what his injuries have been, but he is one big reason why we had to look at TE again this year. I would like to see some OBF stats on how bad we've been with TEs in Elway's time here. At least everything bad you can say about Elway you can always point to McDaniels as being worse LOL.

  71. Another wide receiver and return man. Looks like a solid pick.

    1. Small and fast. What was it I said to OBF the other day about that guy he linked from NC A&T, something like I'm fine with small and fast as long asv they play recklessly and they are dispensable. With other return guys drafted I'd say he better play reckless or he doesn't have a spot.

      Delete
  72. Got a couple of small and fast guys. And traded Bibbs. Should be able to get around the edge a few times a game on some change of pace calls in the run game.

    ReplyDelete
  73. And QB in the 7th. I'm thinking things would have to go real badly for him to get any playing time like Siemian has.

    1. Jim Kelly's nephew. Pretty cool Mr. Irrelevant.

      Delete
  74. Pretty happy with the picks we got and cool to see us moving around for a change. Think it was pretty cool we all here were spot on with positions and types of players we needed.

Butt, great pick here in the 5th. Project that when healthy is starter material.

McKenzie, freaking love this pick. I didn't mention it before because it has been so long since we even thought about it. But drafting a returner! Oh Happy days. Watching his highlights has me excited for his speed and how he could help the offense too. Bye Norwood.

I was a little confused to see Bibbs go. At one point he was out playing both CJ and Booker but got hurt. Seems he may get a better change with the niners and we got a CJ clone in Henderson, minus the fat.

Kelly, awesome pick here and why not. You have been dumb now step up. I think he will get his chances, maybe not this year but he will have an opportunity.

Two disappointments though. Its clear Elway doesn't value ILB, and when you look at who we have had (Marshall-undrafted, Trevathan-6th and Davis-underdrafted) it shouldn't surprise us.

And offensive linemen. We got one, means Schofield and Ty probably going to be considered OT...Both make baby jesus cry when they play tackle.

UDFA. Got some LBs, pass rushers secondary players, QB arm and the NT that Digger called above.

Tyrique Jarrett 6'3 340. He big!

    ReplyDelete
  75. After reading up on Kelly a bit, he is either gong to be the story of the draft or he is going to go south faster than Maurice Clarrett.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I really like our draft picks and UDFA's. I think we got a lot better. I think we got guys that can contribute right away and are going to make an impact. As far as ILb, I think we have had some other more glaring needs in the past and this draft and Elway didn't see anybody he HAD to go get. I also think that he probably feels that if you beef up the front four, that position isn't as critical. So you can get by with what we have and still be ok. Not sure if that is his thinking, just my guess.

I think they will mix and match on the oline. We have a center that is pretty good. We drafted a LT. We signed a really good guard. We have some other guys that can probably be plugged in with better guys around then than what we had last year. With a different scheme and better guys atound them I think we will be ok. We can and should use Green as an extra blocker on the line if we keep him.

I am guessing with the drafting of Butt that either Green or Huerman will be the odd man out. Neither has lived up to their billing.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Kelly was an intiguing pick. Can you go south quicker than Clarette? Didn't he get cut IN camp? I can't recall, but I was thinking he was released before cuts.

Sounds like he thinks because he is reated to Jim Kelly that he is owed something by everyone and thinks his shit doesn't stink. Hopefully at some point he wises up and realizes that nothing in the NFL is handed to you. Sometimes the QB situation is, but it goes away a hell of a lot quicker than it comes.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I'm thinking Kelly might get the Clarette treatment if he shows up to camp with any attitude at all. I'm guessing Jim Kelly and Elway had a chat and then Jim had the same chat with young Kelly about last and only chances. If he gets and attitude with the veterans or coaches, or gets in any trouble around town, he might be gone faster than Maurice. If he really is a good kid that made some immature decisions and he has grown up considerably before he gets to camp, he could be a great QB. Best hope is he shows up to camp properly humbled and listens and learns. Sounds like he has some time before he's doing any serious working out so maybe he'll learn his manners and turn into something. With all the QBs we have, I can't see the team having a lot of patience with Mr Irrelevant.

      Delete
  78. Haha. Don't pat me on the back for that NT pick. OBF put a link to him the other day I think. He hasn't been on yet to say how he liked this draft. I'm guessing him and 1st aren't to pleased with it.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Actually I liked the draft - I think we did pretty good. Many of the "experts" from the media are unhappy and that suites me just fine - it helps cement my opinion that we did good. I've just been really busy the last few weeks and haven't had time to post my thoughts on it - still don't have time but I think we're gonna be a better team this year.

  79. Maybe a new post with all the picks and UDFAs would get them back here. The new schedule and other stuff fixed wouldn't hurt either.
